Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer one of the most famous onscreen couples on television today. Kirstie and Phil are both professional property hunters and aspire to help others full-fill their property dreams. On what at times can be a very tight budget.
They both have other property related ventures away from the television set. Kirstie has her own 'moving sense' brand which is a fragranced candle to use if you're trying to sell your house.
Phil writes for a very luxurious magazine 'lusso luxury'. Giving readers advice about anything property related. The magazine is only £4.40 so what are you missing?? (That was me being sarcastic).
In case you haven't guessed it's about property hunting and location. In each episode Kirstie and Phil help people - (usually a couple) to locate to somewhere of their preference.
Kirstie and Phil do the digging and investigate the best properties available on the market and then take the couples (or whoever) to the different properties for them to then decide if one of these houses is somewhere they'd like to purchase.
…Example episode…
To explain more fully. Imagine this: two young business women working in Swindon running their own successful company. Would like to buy a place in or near Croyde to travel to at weekends. They would also like to buy somewhere for their offices (currently letting) and a new smaller home in Swindon.
Phil's task: Finding somewhere in Croyde for the ladies on a maximum budget of £260,000.
Kirstie's task: Finding somewhere in Swindon for the couple to work and live. On a smaller budget of £120,000.
Couples task: To look at the properties found by Phil and Kirstie and to decide to buy or not to buy. Simple concept really…
…My thoughts …
The program is very interesting and visits many individuals in very different situations and circumstances. So no two episodes are the same.
Some individuals are first time buyers. Others have reached quite a level on the old property ladder.
Some people are in search of a quiet location to get away from the busy city life. So there really is variety. You're never quite sure what house the couples will choose and that is also part of the interest in the program.
This is what interests me in the program and the fact that Kirstie and Phil drop some very helpful hints about what you should do before jumping head first onto the property ladder. (Some thing I hope to be able to afford one day). So whilst I'm still at the bottom step I can watch others climb and learn from their experiences.
…Conclusion…
Overall a pretty interesting program. It's a shame there are so many property program on the television now. I think people get sick of seeing the same old thing on different channels - or am I wrong?
Housing seems to be a huge topic of conversation within the media at the moment. Kirstie and Phil are both from a property background and so therefore I think their program is more informative than a lot of other amateur property programs on television.
In a long winded round about way I'm trying to say if you had to choose out of all the property programs on the television at the moment. I would definitely recommend you tune into channel 4 and watch Kirstie and Phil. They make a great team and actually know what they are talking about!
However (uh oh), I'd rather not end this on a negative note but I often wonder if the program is a set up. I only say this because I know some one who went on the television program 'A place in the sun' and that's a fix.
So I wonder if Location Location Location also has false couples to make the programs interesting. I hope I'm wrong.
Propert, property ladder....MONEY! Doesn't anyone value just having a jice warm welcoming HOME to come home to in the evening. Why are we all expected to climb as "high up the property ladder" as possible? Yes this is an interesting programme, but I do think that peoples prioreties have gone astray somewhere when it comes to their attitude towards the place in which they live. Richard.
Advantages: Great show for that midweek TV boredom, Kirsty and Phil's dynamics Disadvantages: Too short, and the buyers are sometimes incredibly irritating
