... For one, transmission of the show is a bit disorganised - we started with a one hour special on Thursday - then half an hour on Wednesdays - then another show started on Monday nights and repeats on Sunday on Channel 4 - in addition to this E4 is showing loads of episodes of Shipwrecked Extra ... Advantages: Entertaining, compelling, good concept Disadvantages: Lucy Masoud, sometimes frustrating - everyone else is too nice
...and repeats on Sunday on Channel 4 - in addition to this E4 is showing loads of episodes of Shipwrecked Extra which adds to the confusion. This then gives me the impression that I have missed some of the shows and sometimes whole storylines pass me by. Sort it out Channel 4 and be more regular with your programming - I had a similar problem with ITV's Popstars. Secondly, I hope the contestants realise that once they're off the island the public will ... ...give up any clings to fame they may think they have.
UPDATE : 5th MARCH - The series finished about a week ago and though I moaned about the nastier people on the show they were really needed - unfortunately the people on the island were just too damned nice and you got the impression that nothing much really happened - a bit more fighting and violence next time please!!! ...

Advantages: hangover cure Disadvantages: the castaways
The nights have drawn in, it's cold outside and what better way to pass the time while waiting for your dinner to cook than to watch a bunch of idiots fight it out on a desert island, thankfully somewhere in the pacific. This is the third series of Shipwrecked, and for those of you that need an introduction, it features the young and the beautiful handpicked from ludicrous auditions (I've never actually seen them as I've obviously been doing something ... ...weeks stranded on a desert island, and of course, inevitably 15 minutes, or 15 seconds of fame. There are 15 of these young, mostless lazy and clueless hopefuls, and this series features 'youngsters' from England, France, Italy, America and Australia. Mmmmm, yes, quite a mix... The object of the exercise is to learn how to survive, both socially and physcially, learning how to hunt and forage for food, being self-sufficient, and of course working ...

Advantages: reasonable TV Disadvantages: manufactured contestants
The basic premise of this show is to stick a group of young student type people on an uninhabited island for 10 weeks and to record their stay for the purpose of TV entertainment. It's much like Survivor, Big Brother and Castaway. I personally think this show is directed/targeted at a younger audience than the aforementioned shows. Its prime audience is people of my age group (15-25) - primarily because of the age group of the contestants and because ... ...Sunday daytime.
There isn't (as far as I know) a winner as in the American Survivor series. The contestants just spend the full 10 weeks on an island and get a novelty trophy! Their real reward is the publicity and the opportunity to pursue a TV career if they are good enough! For many of the original shipwrecked contestants it just showed them as morons peeing on their food supply and acting like total twats!
In reality what we see are edited ...

Advantages: No plot = no thinking Disadvantages: Many irritating people
...it goes something like this. Channel 4 take a selection of over-zealous twenty-somethings, the majority of whom have quite obnoxious personalities and dump them on a desert island to fend for themselves for about 2 months. Had the series ended here it would probably have been more critically acclaimed but unfortunately Channel 4 insist on filming the "cast"aways' antics for the ensuing months. This is admittedly another series in the same vein as ... ...When it seems apparent that Channel 4 only selected participants who look good in swim wear I want to shake their corporate hand. The general content of the show consists of watching the cast struggle through their daily routine living off meagre food rations. They develop various plans to catch more supplies or canoe to a nearby island and presumably the local Spar all of which fail with a comfortable reliability. A 'Hut-cam' is available (like ...

island life Review ofChannel 4 - Shipwreckedby
newby2
Advantages: great show Disadvantages: wish you were there
...that.
It is on channel four saturday and sunday morning and is basically a programme in which young people are stranded on two dessert islands for 6 months trying to win a load of dosh. Each week a new member must choose between the islands and in the end the island with the most people left on is the winner.
You get to see lots of flesh on this programme men and women and the sun seems to be shining most of the time.
The whole programe is really ...

Advantages: Don't know, never seen it Disadvantages: Sounds very boring
...What a pointless series. Who needs an insight into the world of being a popstar??
The are much better things on tv to watch than popstars. I don't see what is soo amazing about watching people cry because they haven't made it. Actually, I don't know whether it's legible that i write about this, as I have never seen one episode of popstars, but frankly, I don't have a wish to watch it. It sounds like such a boring tv show, there is plenty of other good stuff on tv so why waste time watching this?
This kind of reality/real-life television does not appeal to me the tiniest bit really. However I do like one, Channel4's Shipwrecked is a brilliant show, it is sooooo much more entertaining than other reality tv shows like big brother and castaway.
SO WHO CARES ABOUT POPSTARS?????...

Advantages: Interesting characters, being able to see everything that goes on, living the moments with the characters Disadvantages: not many, but some people became too addicted
...Big Brother certainly kept me entertained throughout the summer. Love it or hate it, you cannot deny its presence as one of (if not, the) biggest hits of the year....
We are all voyeurs! Some more overtly so than others, but nevertheless there is something interesting and powerful about being able to watch fellow humans.
I never really thought of myself as a voyeur, even though the signs were there, in that I always enjoyed fly on the wall documentaries. I was addicted to Channel4's "Shipwrecked", about 10 contestants marooned on a desert island for 8 weeks fending for themselves. Although when Big Brother was first advertised, I suppose I saw it as a bit seedy and perverted!
Nevertheless, I tuned in for the first ever episode, just to see what it was like. I would be lying if I said that I was hooked immediately. I found...

Advantages: some new drama's Disadvantages: repeats
...This is a channel that is launched a month or so ago, and some are the things are very good like ‘Happy Trigger TV’ and ‘ Friends’. Last week they had the ‘David Blaine Magic Show’ which was really good but I do find they do have a lot of repeats, actually most of their shows are repeats. For example, ‘Streetmate’, which has been on Channel4.
They show repeats running of most of their shows on Sunday evening so if you missed something, you have a chance to watch it. I suppose if you don’t have video recorder it is helpful.
The channel is available to Sky digital customer only on 205 and has strong, very strong links with Channel4.
The other good thing is that if you miss something on Channel4 watch it on E4, like I did with ‘Shipwrecked’. Although, one...
