Well where do you start with one of the greatest programmes ever to grace the vision, which is telly. Well I think I am going to start with the characters.

Characters

Tim: He is a struggling artist who is working in a comic book store, he was dumped for his mate by his ex-girlfriend and he has a scar on his forehead from banging his head on his pond when his sister wrapped her big wheel in his batman comics, Tim unable to salvage the comics then road the big wheel into his pond. He smokes and drinks and smokes some more (this time with some Jamaican export in it). He is insecure about his whole life; he even has caneaphobia (scared of bamboo). He is a resident evil fan, loves star wars and has a short attention span.

Daisy: She is a struggling writer from London, she hasn’t had any of her articles published yet and she has a third in English literature. She used to live in a squat, but there was a whole thing with this boy and she left. She loves the eighties since that was the time of her miss spent youth and she also loves dogs but they don’t seem to be to fond of her. Daisy is going out with Boss Hog (if you watch it you’ll get that joke) but is forced to break up with him after he breaks up with her first.

Brian: He is an artist who is in to pain, anger, fear and aggression. He is a bit strange and likes to paint with his member (if you know what I mean, you don’t, well it means his penis). He lives in the flat below Tim and Daisy, and often comes up for cups of tea. His life has been sheltered and the reason for his depressive paintings is the death of his beloved Fluffy. He doesn’t have a Girlfriend but we don’t actually know if he is into women or men whatsoever.

Marsha: She is the landlord of the property and she lives above Tim and Daisy, she is an alcoholic who smokes like a chimney. She was dumped by her husband and now brings up a rebellious teenager. She could have been an Olympic athlete but an unfortunate car accident in which she met her future husband stopped all that. She is caring and loving in her own special way and is like a motherly figure, which is constantly drunk (that last bit sounds a bit like my mum actually).

Mike: Mike is Tim’s best friend; he used to be part of the TA and likes flicking rubber bands at cats from time to time. Mike was kicked out of the TA for taking a tank and then trying to conquer France but Mike stopped off at Disney land Paris or Euro-Disney as it was known and was caught on Space Mountain. We don’t seem to know anything about Mike’s love life, but in my opinion I think he loves Tim.

Twist: She is Daisy’s best friend but no one really knows why, she is in the fashion industry (She works at a laundry place). She is obsessed with weight and always seems to rag on Daisy for being plump. Twist isn’t really in Spaced that much so we don’t really find anything out about her but this I find adds to her mystique and for some reason she likes touching her nipples.

The basic plot outline for the start is that Tim has been dumped by his girlfriend and needs a place to stay, Daisy had a fling with one of her house mates and also has to find a place to stay, they have a chance meeting in a café in which Daisy thinks Tim is a drug dealer when they first meet. They find a flat, which is for professional couples only so they fake being a couple and get the flat, and their adventures start there.

There are 7 episodes in this series and each one is just as funny as the last apart from the second one, which is crappy. Through out the series we see many adventures my favourite ones are Mike and Tim battling the evil Dwayne Benzie (Tim’s mate who nicked his girlfriend) in a paint ball fight, another is Daisy, Tim and Brian going to Brian’s ex-boy/girlfriends art theatre in which Zombies attack kind of and my favourite adventure in series one is where Twist, Brian, Mike, Tim and Daisy go and save there Dog, Collin, and in this adventure we get to hear the line ‘That will shoot straight through the engine block of a Fiat Uno, no problem’

I love spaced since it isn’t just a comedy programme it is an actual series about losers who won’t make anything out of there lives, but they still live interesting ones. Now many people will say this is the same as ‘the Royal Family’ well it isn’t it is better than that pathetic excuse for a series SO WATCH IT!

The spaced soundtrack is supposed to be very good but I myself haven’t heard it, the music in the series is great but I don’t know which songs they put on the soundtrack so I can’t say much about that.

Spaced is excellent, and there isn’t anything like it, Spaced was on channel 4 but it has stopped now but I recommend buying the first series on DVD, it is well worth watching over and over again. Thanks for reading.

IF YOU DIDN’T READ A WORD OF THIS REVIEW AND YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE WITH THE MAJORITY THEN I AM GOING TO PUT A CURSE ON YOU, SO READ IT YOU LAZY person (I wanted to put something else instead of person but I would probably get kicked off for saying it).

I read all the opinion! My friends recently got me into Spaced so I've been watching the first series on DVD & enjoying it.
