Daria on Channel 5 is a very good cartoon, with its mix of serious, complicated Daria and Jane and the thick babes, and weird parents. This is a reveloutionary cartoon, there is nothing else like it on tv. I think that this programme appeals to everyone like Daria who is just completely sick of all the thick people out there that just haven't got a clue. The way in which the cartoon is drawn is also quite unique, with the thick black lines and gives the animation a very different feel and makes it sort of easier to take in, don't ask me how.
Advantages: Very realistic scenarios... Disadvantages: Annoying voices.
Okay, so the Simpsons was the voice of the 80's/90's, and very possibly Southpark is the voice of today- for main stream teens, but there's a little voice of youth that seems to go unheard, Daria.
The basic plot is an extremely cynical girl who has to cope with being unpopular in High school. She has a best friend Jane, who's really into arty stuff, and a 'member of the fashion club' as a sister. To top that off, Jane has a good-looking brother, ...

...character on the whole of Channel 5 at the moment. She is clever and witty, although is considered to be a self-styled nerd, who hangs around with her friend who has too many earrings in one ear. They talk about the possibilities and threats to the average teenager's life, such as bad hairstyles and dieting but don't get me wrong, Daria is nothing like this and would rather save the world. Her sister is Quinn, and is everything that Daria despises, ...

Advantages: Funny and intelligent cartoon, well-rounded characters Disadvantages: maybe not as grandly projected as the Simpsons
...and most intelligent programme on Channel 5. Although never given the prominence it has deserved, Daria's deadpan putdowns and witty asides have managed to gain a well-earned niche. What is even funnier is that the rest of the characters (apart from Suzi) fail to see the irony of their situation.... ...

...show on the ever slated channel 5 and its the brillient Daria. I actually only started watching this show a few months ago when people started calling me Daria and I wondered why. Since then I go back to the Sick sad world of Daria every week. Daria is the genre other cartoons miss out in fact its almost animated saved by the bell from the point of view of the laid back people instead of the cheerleader(which are mocked in Daria as being air heads ...

...as he can simply be seen as the coolest guy around, the one that people would really like in real life. His attributes include his mellowness, irnony, and best of all the fact that he plays in a 'rock' band.
Daria is usally aired on Channel5 at about 1700 at the weekend and on MTV during the day.
If you have never seen Daria you should definitely check it out and even if you dxon't enjoy it immediately keep watching as you should get into it after a while. If not you risk missing out on the best humour the Americans can provide....

Advantages: very funny and true, pokes fun at USA school shows Disadvantages: none
...My first brush with Daria was on Channel5, you can catch the show on Saturday afternoons if you can manage to get a decent reception. If you want more of a fix then I'm afraid you'll have to open up to the joys of cable/digital/satellite tv and get MTV where the show can be found every weekday at 1.30pm.
The show is a cartoon with a whole host of characters. The main one being Daria, a teenager at school who isn't the typical american schoolkid stereotype. She's actually quite deadpan and neagtive about everything but then again she's the voice of reason in a crazy american world. The only one who shares her opinions is her friend Jane, another one with a real outlook on the world and someone who also likes to dabble in freaky modern art.
Most of the storylines take place at Lawndale High School and really poke fun at some...

Advantages: quite funny Disadvantages: some annoying voices
...Daria Morgendorfer is the most cynical cartoon character you will find. Her sister is the president of the high school fashion club, her father something in the city and her mother is a lawyer.
The cartoon is set around the morgendorfer home and at Lawndale high, Darias school, which is inhabited by grotesque students who remind us just why we like the atlantic between us and America.
Darias only source of friendship is Jane, an artist who shares the same cynical view of the 'American way'.
Sharply written, Daria pokes fun at the shallow lives of the high school jocks and beauty queens, and the superficiality of the American dream.
Not a riot of laughs, but humourous all the same, if you like King of the Hill you ought to enjoy Daria....
