I love Doctor Who. I'll admit my knowedge of the original series is quite weak, but you can ask me anything about the 21st Century series' and I can rattle off a fair bit to you! So what is it anyway? Well Doctor Who is a sci-fi family show about a Time Lord named the Doctor. He travels around the galaxies through time and space in his blue box known as the Tardis (Time and Relative Dimension in Space), saving the innocent from the evil. Sometimes he travels alone though more often than not it is with a companion.
One of his companions, as sort of tag along, is Captain Jack Harkness, who we met in Series One, and then again in Series 3 and 4. He is a Time Agent, so he knowns about alien tech and suchlike. He fell for the gorgeous Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and although he and the Doctor did not get along too greatly, they soon became good friends! This character is played by the amazingly cute John Barrowman.
Character Options and BBC have teamed up to provide us with a variety toys and merchandise from the series, including a variety of figures! One size of figures available is the 5" figures, which come packaged in a plastic 'case', clear so we can see inside. One of these is the Captain Jack with Revlovler. This figure comes from the Series 3 Captain Jack.
This figure looks a lot like Captain Jack. He is dressed in a long cloak with dark clothes underneath, perfect and prepared for any mission to come his way (which is always with Jack!). His little black boots are adorable, and the details on his jacket are precise. The way his hair is 'cut' is correct too. His facial features are also quite accurate too, making him look a lot more like Barrowman. :)
The figure is quite posable too, which is always great! You can bend his arms and legs up and down, as well as moving his head from side to side. This makes playing a lot more fun and enjoyable. He can stand on his own, but only just. He comes with a little revolver gun, which is small and black. You can slot the handle snuggly into his hand so he can carry it around. A nice touch I think!
I paid £5 for my Jack when it was on sale in Woolworths. Though I do know it is a lot more expensive in shops such as Forbidden Planet and Toys R Us, as much as £12. You may be able to grab a bargain from eBay or suchlike though if your timing is good!
This is an amazingly cute figure from Series 3, perfect for any fan young or old! No Doctor Who 5" figure collection is complete without him!
