Charles Worthington is a god in the hair world. He snips away at the flashest celebrities and millionaires with such finesse that he has a world reknown reputation as being up there with the best. So, like many before him, he jumped on the bandwagon of fetching out his own hair products line emblazened with his name across it. Nicky Clarke, Lee Stafford, Toni & Guy have all done the same. If you go into any Boots store you are overwhelmed with all these big names leaping out at you, special offers of 3 for 2 and fancy long names claiming they can rejuvenate your hair to look as shiny as the models adorning the boxes.
Why I bought this product..
Ive had a love/hate relationship with my hair for a long time. Mostly hate. Now many people say im lucky to have naturally curly hair. So naturally I despise my curly locks and straighten them with my GHDs to within an inch of their life. 'I dont want to look like Shirley Temple mum, Im 25!!' I shout in my defence. But now the years of battering away at my locks is beginning to take its toll. My luxurious mane is now limp, dried up and resembling hay in a rabbits hutch. Well not quite. My hairdresser is always getting on at me to 'condition, condition, condition'. So I have, but with little success. Until now!! ::hurrah::
Whilst browsing in t'asda t'other day, I came across this product. Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Hair Healer Intensive Leave-In Conditioner. What a mouthful. Is there any need for the extra long winded name? It was on special offer with a pound off, so being the bargain hunter that I was I snapped it up. I am very pleased with the results.. as you will soon find out.
The Packaging..
Is bright, funky, sophisticated and Orange. Much more impressive than your bog standard Head and Shoulders but I presume this funky packaging is why the price is quite hefty. The name of the product (Im not saying it again) is in black basic font and it also says what kind of hair type you should have to benefit from it. Dry, Permed or Colour Treated. As im a very un-natural red head it suits me just fine. It contains 200ml (6.75 fl. oz fact fans).
On the back is some enticing flashy text with words like 'glosses', 'nourishes', 'revives' all basically shouting out 'buy me or else'. It claims to contain a new Keraflex complex which is a breakthrough in haircare science. This protein makes your hair 3 times stronger and leaves you with the much promised smoother locks we all desire.
There are instructions. I dont know why, I presume anyone above the age of 10 knows how to wash their hair. But as it is a leave in conditioner, for the simple folk out there, it makes it obvious you dont urm wash it out.
To open there is a lid at the base of the product which is very sturdy and doesnt leak. You just push it open and squeeze a small amount out. Then close and put on the bathroom side. Im babbling sorry.
It doesnt state whether the packaging is recyclable.
The smell and appearance..
Ive just smelt it and its very fresh, conditioner-y with no awful fruity smell that you often get these days. My boyfriend loves the smell of it after Ive washed it so it cant be all bad. The appearance is as you would expect white gunky coloured thick liquid. There is not bits in it to aggitate your scalp. Very easy to apply and just a nice consistency.
How I use it..
After shampooing and using your ordinary conditioner towel dry you hair and then apply this all over. Dont focus too much on the hair near your scalp as this might encourage dandruff. The ends of your hair will need attention too so dont forget and leave them out! You will only require a small amount so dont overdo it. Then just brush through your hair and dry/style as you normally would.
The results..
I have to say I am very impressed with the results of using this product. My hair is in alot better condition than it has been in a long time. Many people have commented on its shiny appearance and I can only put this down to using this. My hair feels alot smoother and softer and has been easier to style. It also lasts until your next wash.
My hair doesnt feel as dry as it did. I think the product has given it alot more moisture, fighting the effects of using heat styling products over a long period. I have been using this product for around 3 months now and have not noticed any deterioration in its effect on my hair. After every wash I use it and it continues to make my hairs appearance look healthier.
Some of the ingredients..
Ive just done a quick scan of the ingredients list and have noticed some unusual additions that could be giving it that extra kick. There is:
all contained in it, so it has alot of natural substances inside it. They must all add to the sweet pleasant aroma it has!
Where to find this product..
You can get this from heaps of places. Supermarkets, Chemists, Online retailers and im sure you will get it on Ebay if you looked. There is a great supply of these products as the demand for them is ever increasing.
How much the product is..
At Boots it is retailing at £4.99 which is very expensive by my standards but if you shop around you will find this cheaper. Dont succumb to this extortionate price! Wait for offers before you try it.
Compared with other products available to fares as follows [taken from boots.com]-
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor 250 ml | £1.80 per 100 ml £4.49
Pantene Pro-V Repair & Protect Intensive Treatment 150 ml | £2.86 per 100 ml £4.29
Mark Hill Intensive Colour Protection Mask £4.28 per 100 ml £7.49
Elvive Nutri-Gloss Intense Masque 200 ml | £2.00 per 100 ml £3.99
So as you can see its the average price for similar products on the market.
Other Tips to keep your hair moisturised andin good condition are:
- Keep your split ends away with a cut at the hairdressers every 6-8 weeks. Not only does it shunt away the demons but it encourages hair growth.
- Exercise, Eat well, Dont smoke and cut down on your drink. Not only will you feel better in yourself but it will also benefit your hair. What you put into yourself has an effect on your whole being. If you are eating crap, expect your hair to suffer. Eating more protein will improve your locks ten fold.
- Take a supplement such as Vitamin E. Check with your doctor first but vitamin E is reknown for its healing properties. If you are suffering from hair loss, dull lacklustre hair then this is for you. Eat more brown rice, wheatgerm and green veg to get this into your diet naturally.
Summary..
If your hair is:
~ Dry ~ Damaged ~ Coloured ~ Permed ~ Heat Style
Then this is the product for you. In my opinion it is the best out there. It is good value for money and lasts a long time. I have loads left in my bottle after using it weekly for 3 months. If your hair needs an extra blast of moisture to perk it up then try this out. I dont think you will be disappointed.

Advantages: Lasts a long time Disadvantages: Can be quite expensive and doesn't smell too good
I bought the "Takeaways" version of this product quite a while ago. Boots were having a "3 for 2" offer on all CharlesWorthington Takeaways products so I tried the IntensiveLeave-InConditioner. It is £1.50 a bottle so I got 6 bottles for £6 because of this special offer.
This "IntensiveLeave-InConditioner" is for all hair types. I also use Organics for Fine Hair and this seemed like a good compliment to that. I use the conditioner about twice a week.
The bottle is about 4 inches (12cms) tall and it's a yellowy creamy colour. It's made from plastic and has a pump action top and a lid. I get about 30 small applications out of one 50ml bottle but obviously people with more hair may need more conditioner. The bottles have lasted me months - in fact, I've had these for over a year and they haven't gone off or gone watery ...
Advantages: Soft and silky hair Disadvantages: Feels a bit sticky on your hands
Worthington mini Takeaways. They are smaller sized bottles of existing products. Each smaller product contains the same as the larger only on a smaller scale.
I bought the CharlesWorthington Hair Healer IntensiveLeave-inConditioner.
The bottle is 12cms tall and it cream in colour. It has dark blue text on the front and the CharlesWorthington logo is at the top of the bottle. The bottle is made from flexible plastic. The top (where the product comes out) has a pump action top. The bottle contains 15 to 25 applications of the product.
The ingredients are listed on the back of the bottle, and it also has what it is supposed to do, on the back of the bottle.
I paid £1.50 for this bottle of Leave-inConditioner. I thought this was very reasonable. I noticed, when I bought this, that most of the products in the range were priced between ...
Advantages: great for dry coloured hair Disadvantages: none really
I am always in search for a good conditioner. I have long hair, which is also highlighted, so I need an intensiveconditioner, especially in the summer. This is why I have decided to try CharlesWorthington Results intensiveleave-inconditioner. I have to say it’s brilliant. I usually find it very difficult to comb my hair after I have washed it, but after applying this conditioner I didn’t have a problem at all. It also made my hair really shiny. It says on the package that the conditioner contains from 50-100 applications and I although I only used the product about 10 times I believe this statement. You only need a little bit of it each time. This means that even though it costs about £5 it is still good value for money. The smell is ok too, I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely wonderful, but when I choose my ...
