I usually use Umberto Gianini Blow Dry Creme, but bought this to try when Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on.
What is it?
This is a product designed to aid the straightening of hair. The idea is that you apply it before blow-drying and it will help keep your hair straight.
What do the manufacturers claim?
They say 'Charles Worthington Relax and Unwind Blow-Dry Straightening Balm gives your hair new structure and shape, controlling and straightening, as it calms and relaxes curl.'
What hair types is it suitable for?
The bottle states that the product is designed for curly, frizzy and unruly hair.
Does it work?
This is quite a thick, whiteish balm, which you really have to work through your hair as the consistency is so thick. My hair only has a slight wave rather than a strong curl, but I did find that the product helped to straighten out the waves, and did eliminate frizz - probably because the thick balm is similar to having a thick layer of gel or something, smoothing it down.
How long can you see the effects?
My hair stayed straight for a couple of hours after using this, but i found i had to wash it out the first thing the next morning as my hair looked so greasy.
Other Negative Points
The balm is so thick, it is difficult to work through the hair and after blow-drying i found it left my hair feeling quite hard - as you sometimes get with hairspray, mousse and other similar products.
Packaging
I bought the 75ml travel size version, which is part of the Charles Worthington take-aways range. It comes in a pale pinkplastic bottle and has a screw top lid, with one of those little flick down things, so you can dispense the balm onto your hand.
Price
It costs around £1.60 for the travel size (75ml) bottle from Boots.
How does it compare to similar products?
I have always used Umberto Gianini straightening creme in the past, which i find much better as it is easily applied to the hair and leaves no stickiness or hardness afterwards.
Extra Info
It is not tested on animals

doesn't sound like the best product - i love straightening products but not ones that cause virtually instant greasiness. thanks for the warning! paula x
