While wandering around the aisles in Boots a while ago, I spied a 3 for 2 offer on the Charles Worthington range. Attracted by all the pretty coloured products, I ventured over to see what was on offer. This product caught my eye as the description on the bottle made it sound like it could perform miracles on anyone’s hair – so naturally, I had to try it.

The bottle itself is pretty plain, being a creamy colour with dark blue writing and the unmissable Charles Worthington logo emblazoned on the top. The bottle is a slightly odd shape being approx 4 ½ inches tall and 4 inches wide – curved to meet as an edge on each end (as pictures) and just under 1 ½ inches thick in middle and the top contains a flip-top lid which clicks securely into place to avoid spillage.

As you can tell, it wasn’t really the bottle the attracted this product to me, but more of the claims of what it could do, let me explain…

Firstly, on the front, it says that it: glosses, nourishes and revives tired hair. Sounds like a good start, but it also claims to be for all hair types, is this possible though I wonder?

As I continued onto the back of the bottle (I like to know what I’m getting when I buy something for the first time) there is even more blurb saying: Award winning salon and TV hairdresser Charles Worthington knows how to make hair look good. “I have created ‘Results’ to make your hair look its best ever. Breakthrough ingredients and high performance naturals maximise your hair and scalp to health: this state-of-the-art range of shampoos and styling products leaves your hair happy and healthy.”

Well, he certainly sounds like he knows what he’s talking about and seeing as I know he can cut hair, why shouldn’t he know how to get the best from it with products as well?

So, I purchase this intensive hair and scalp mega-treatment packed with nourishers and strengtheners which target damager zones, plus soothers, smoothers and refreshing naturals and took it home to try it, only to discover that even more claims had been made on the bottle (there’s only so much you can read in the shop!)

It also claims to:

Volumise hair
Add shine
Prevent static
Improve hair and scalp health
Protect hair from heat styling damage
Protect hair from environmental damage
Boost hair’s moisture retention
Prevent chlorine damage
Restore pH balance

Amazing! Better get started with it then… thought I better check the directions for use (just in case), which are pretty simple. You should use this sparingly as it’s a highly concentrated conditioner apparently. Apply a small amount of product to towel dry hair using fingertips, then comb through. Do not rinse out.

So this is what I did, the conditioner itself is quite thin considering, maybe its because its so highly concentrated. The conditioner is the same light creamy colour as the bottle but is much more watery in consistency than your average conditioner.

I applied a small amount to my hair and had another look at the bottle to see if there was anything else I might need to know before styling.

I was surprised to find that the bottle claimed to contain between 50 to 100 applications as this information is not normally carried on conditioner bottles. However, having used this product on several occasions, it does last well because you don’t need very much of it and because it so thin, its very easy to spread evenly through the hair, whatever length you wear it so I daresay that this claim is probably true.

As I said, the conditioner spread through my hair evenly and easily and I was slightly tempted to add more to the ends but decided against this as I didn’t want to chance my hair becoming greasy or weighed down with the product. It does leave your hands feeling slightly sticky though, but this is easily rinsed off.

It also recommends to follow with ‘Results’ styling products. I didn’t happen to have any of these at the time and was hoping that seeing as this was an intense leave-in product that this wouldn’t be necessary anyway.

Other products in the results range include:

Moisture Sealing Glossing Shampoo – 250ml - £3.99
Shine on Shampoo – 250ml - £3.99
Balancing Act Shampoo – 250ml - £3.99
Daily Treat Conditioner – 250ml - £3.99
Rebalancing Conditioner – 250ml - £3.99
All in One Cleanser (for hair) – 250ml - £3.99
Makeover Blowdry Spray – 200ml - £3.99
Stay Cool Heat Protector – 200ml - £3.95
Extra Texture Gel – 200ml -£3.99
Finishing Wax – 50ml - £4.29
Silkening Mousse – 200ml - £3.99

All prices and sizes listed are taken from information found at Boots, although I suspect this is about average anywhere.

My only major concern was the smell. Unfortunately by the time I’d got through all the pretty coloured bottles and landed this one, I didn’t actually check the scent before I bought it – bit of a mistake really. It smelt quite pleasant at first although slightly masculine, like hidden aftershave smell. Nothing very descript, but once I had applied it to my hair this seemed to become stronger and there was an underlying smell which I can only describe as being almost ‘fishy’. I have no idea why the product smells like this - possibly because of the masculine smell combining with faint but inoffensive conditioner smell which when added to hair creates this awful combination.

Never one to be put off to easily, I figured that once I had dried and styled my hair, this might disappear. Unfortunately it didn’t. The results were okay, there was definitely no spectacular improvement and my hair looked just like it normally does by the time I finished styling it. Even using scented products or a light spray of perfume over my head would not remove the smell.

I decided to sleep on it and see if it dispersed by morning. Not so. The smell was going nowhere. Now, I might have been able to put up with it if it had done wonders to my hair, but it hadn’t. There was also the prospect of going out in public and having other people catch a whiff of it, I had no desire to have people think I smelt like aftershave or a fish. Therefore I had to wash it out.

As I was wetting my hair I could actually feel the conditioner being washed out which was slightly slimy but a relief nevertheless.

I have tried this on several occasions to see if I over-reacted the first time and had the same results each time. The smell is still awful and it didn’t perform miracles on my hair, so all in all I wouldn’t really recommend it as it didn’t live up to it’s claims for me.

NB: I've marked it as 'others' on what type of hair is it for because it says its for all of them.

This product is apparently expertly tested through development, but not on animals.

Good things come in small packages
Review of Charles Worthington Results Intensive Leave in Conditioner by Mel27

Advantages: Lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Can be quite expensive and doesn't smell too good

...for 2" offer on all Charles Worthington Takeaways products so I tried the Intensive Leave-In Conditioner. It is £1.50 a bottle so I got 6 bottles for £6 because of this special offer. This "Intensive Leave-In Conditioner" is for all hair types. I also use Organics for Fine Hair and this seemed like a good compliment to that. I use the conditioner about twice a week. The bottle is about 4 inches (12cms) tall and it's a yellowy creamy colour. It's ...
...a lid. I get about 30 small applications out of one 50ml bottle but obviously people with more hair may need more conditioner. The bottles have lasted me months - in fact, I've had these for over a year and they haven't gone off or gone watery or been less effective. I would suggest they get kept in the cool bathroom though, rather than in sunlight. On the back of the bottle are the following instructions. "Use this highly concentrated conditioner ... You try getting last little bit out of bottle!
Review of Charles Worthington Results Intensive Leave in Conditioner by deebeebee

Advantages: A little goes a long way
Disadvantages: Seems expensive

I have been buying this regularly for about a year now, and at £1.67 for 50ml it seems quite pricey (not the bottle in the picture). However, this "intensive conditioner" works out to be quite economical: the 50ml bottle (it has a pump attachment) lasts for a good while. Three pumps are enough for shoulder length hair. A little goes a long way. It is easy to apply, is not sticky, and seems to leave no residue on combs or hair stylers. You put it ...
...rinse out. A real time saver. The comb glides through the hair. Great for me (and for the children). It is said to be suitable for all hair types. Mine is fairly dry, but my children use it too. They have normal hair, coloured hair, greasy hair - works well on all of us. It smells slightly floral (slightly medicinal too, maybe? - but that may be me). It claims to have "hair healing" properties. I take this with a pinch of salt. But it does act ... Read review

PERRRRFECT
Review of Charles Worthington Results Intensive Leave in Conditioner by Angelique

Advantages: great for dry coloured hair
Disadvantages: none really

...I have decided to try Charles Worthington Results intensive leave-in conditioner. I have to say it’s brilliant. I usually find it very difficult to comb my hair after I have washed it, but after applying this conditioner I didn’t have a problem at all. It also made my hair really shiny. It says on the package that the conditioner contains from 50-100 applications and I although I only used the product about 10 times I believe this statement. ...
...This means that even though it costs about £5 it is still good value for money. The smell is ok too, I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely wonderful, but when I choose my shampoo I go for the quality of it rather then just the smell. I think people with normal hair might find this product a bit too heavy for everyday use, but for someone like me who has dry hair (as a result of highlights) it is perfect!! I can say that it is one of the best ... Read review

...range is exactly the same as the Results salon formulas, but in smaller, more affordable quantities. There are 23 products in the range, including conditioners, hairsprays, waxes, serums and shampoos. My very tiny local Boots store stocked nine or ten of them, all priced at £1.50 each. They are marketed as beauty products “to go”, handy sizes to take to the gym or on holiday. For me, highly inexperienced in these matters, they were a great way to try an otherwise expensive product without having to shell out for the full sized item. I chose the Hair Healer Intensive Leave-In Conditioner, which comes in a 50ml pump bottle. The little bottle is clear with the name of the product and all the details printed on in the trademark Charles Worthington navy blue font and the silver “W” logo. The conditioner inside... Smooth Silky & Soft - Just the way I like it.
Review of Charles Worthington Results Take Aways Hair Healer Intensive Leave-In Conditioner by  vialdana

Advantages: long lasting, leaves hair smooth, silky and soft
Disadvantages: may make scalp a little greasy if you use too much.

...Results take aways hair healer intensive leave-in conditioner all hair types. - Well, the name of this product might be a bit of a handful to remember, but it is worth remembering it because I found that using it means that my hair isn’t a handful at all. I ‘discovered’ this product purely because my mother didn’t like it. She bought it to try and combat her dry frizzy hair, and didn’t find it helpful at all, so she passed the bottle to me with contents hardly touched – Yay, lucky me! I hate to disagree with my mum, but I think this stuff is pretty darn good. Ok I don’t have particularly frizzy hair, my hair is fairly straight, shoulder length (I recently had most of it cut off again because it was driving me skatty!). It’s very fine, and normally quite fly away but it’s still normally quite hard to do anything much with it... Read review

Review of Charles Worthington Results Take Aways Hair Healer Intensive Leave-In Conditioner by  kirstymack80

Advantages: separated, frizz free curls
Disadvantages: the price

...I'm more impressed with the new packaging as the old pump action jobbie got to be a bit of a pest when it was half way down and nothing was coming out! To sum up - give it a try. For the price, it's well worth it. Even my hairdresser's daughter uses it now! Just to note, this does come in a larger size which is around £4.99. All Charles Worthington takeaways are available in Boots, which is where I purchased mine. They're quite often on a 3 for the price of 2 deal, so try and pick them up and grab yourself a bargain! 5 stars, highly recommended. Thanks for reading.... Read review
