MY HAIR DILEMMA

As I have said before, my hair is an ongoing source of distress for me. Overprocessed, bleached and naturally wavy-curly, it generally does the OPPOSITE of whatever I want it to - when I straighten it, it ends up wavy, when I leave it to go curly it somehow straightens itself . . . I can't win! I have wasted ends about a week after my hair gets cut - although luckily serum can minimise the look of this. But what I hate most of all is the way my hair feels pretty much all of the time - just generally quite bushy and brittle. Sure, when I overprocess it into submission - half a ton of product, twenty minutes blast with the hairdryer and another twenty armed with a ceramic straightener - it starts to feel nice, but obviously all this damaging hard-work doesn't really contribute positively to the long-term health of my hair.

I am constantly on the lookout for a regular conditioner which moisturises my hair as well as an intensive conditioner does. After all, intensive versions tend to be more expensive and I use so much of them per wash that they tend to run out in less than a fortnight. I actually found Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner by accident, when I was trying to buy some trial sized shampoo and conditioner to take on holiday when I went to Spain in April. As Charles Worthington Results products can be bought in "Takeaways" form (a mini size which is apparently ideal for holidays) I decided to buy the glossing shampoo - but opted for the full-sized conditioner, knowing how much I like to use of the stuff!

WHO IS CHARLES WORTHINGTON?

Once upon a time the only place you could buy salon brands was in the salon itself but now, thanks to places like Boots, these brands are readily available on the high street for fairly reasonable prices. Charles Worthington is one of the many salon names you can find on the shelf in Boots and other such stores.

Charles is an architect-turned-hairdresser who now owns five London salons and his flagship international salon which is in New York. He also has a wide range of products available in his own ranges, such as Dream Hair, Q & A and of course Results.

THE PACKAGING AND PRODUCT'S APPEARANCE

Each product within the Results range has been assigned a specific colour, dependent on the result it is meant to give you. The corresponding colour for Moisture-Seal is a bright orangey-yellow shade which is instantly very eye-catching, both on the shop shelf and in your own bathroom! The bottle itself is also very distinctive looking - rather than being the standard shape, it is basically one rectangular block with softened edges, with a flip up lid built into it. As I like to store my conditioner upside down once I get halfway through a bottle so that its easier to dispense the product when I need it, I find that the shape of this product is ideal as it means it won't topple over, like most bottles would do if you inverted them.

The product contained within is pretty standard looking - average white coloured conditioner, like most conditioners! - and FEELS moisturising when you squeeze it into your hands. It has a very light, fresh smell to it - hard to define, but it seems quite citrus-y to me!

SUPERCONDITIONER - IN THEORY

This conditioner is ideal for dry, permed or colour-treated hair. Well I can tick two of those boxes! It features a new "ingredient package" referred to as Keraflex - this is a complex which is said to make hair three times stronger with regular use. Keraflex's other benefits are to provide added shine and bounce to hair, as well as managibility, and to help to reduce split ends.

The conditioner also promises to help detangle, infuse with intensive moisture, and protect hair from damage from heat-styling and colouring. Basically, it is telling us we can experience fabulous advantages from using this product - both of the short-term and long-term variety. But is this all possible from one bottle of conditioner? Surely not?

SUPERCONDITIONER - IN PRACTICE

When we were on holiday, all my mum and I had between us for heat styling our hair were her ghds, so it was necessary for me to let my hair dry naturally after washing and then straighten it. With the emergence of ceramic straighteners, this is a far easier process for me than it once was, but it is still a time-consuming experience. After using Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner, I found my hair to be far more manageable and agreeable to the straighteners - I'd actually managed to get my hair straightened in about five minutes . . . pretty impressive even with the use of the Good Hair Days themselves!

This was definitely a major plus point although I noticed my hair felt much softer from the moment I massaged the conditioner into the length and ends of my hair and rinsed it out earlier on. I definitely wasn't used to my hair FEELING so nice, and even when it dried naturally before I straightened it, it felt far softer and silkier than it usually does when I let it dry on its own.

Even when I got back home and used it in conjunction with a hairdryer, I felt like my hair was looking far glossier than usual, without me having to overload it with the usual plethora of shine-inducing products!

So it certainly LOOKED shinier, and FELT softer and smoother - definite plus points for me. But reduction in split ends? I can't say I've noticed any less but I guess this would probably be dependent on regular trims as well as use of the conditioner on a regular basis - and, due to an aversion to the hairdresser (probably the reason why my hair ended up such a mess in the first place), I don't get professional haircuts very often! Does it protect my hair from heat styling damage? I'd like to think it has a little as my hair DOES feel softer and smoother than it did previously, even though I use my hairdryer and straighteners as much as ever. I definitely think the infusing with and retaining moisture claims also have some truth in them for the same reason.

SHOULD *YOU* TRY IT?

In short, I think this is the best "regular use" conditioner I have ever tried - more moisturising and producing better results than even some of the intensive conditioners I have used in the past.

And you don't even have to leave it on for ages, just run it through your hair with either a comb or your fingers, leave it for a minute, then rinse off. Simple as that!

It really has no bad points, which is why I feel I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who feels they have problem hair! Most of the short and long term benefits it boasts have genuinely come true for me (apart from the split end reduction but, as I said, this could be my own fault), its easy to use and, at £4.19 for a 250ml bottle, it is actually a pretty good bargain. You don't need to use lots of it, so a bottle this size should last you for quite a few washes!

Go on, grab a bottle - your hair will thank you for it!

(If it could talk, that is.)

Lock In The Moisture
Review of Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner by neenn

Advantages: Great for dry, permed or colour-treated hair
Disadvantages: The price

...opted for this one by Charles Worthington. -Price- I paid 4.18 in June 2006 but I have heard since then, that there are sometimes BOGOF or 3 for 2 offers on, so it really is worth waiting for the offers and stocking up. -Packaging- I like the packaging, it's almost like a cuboid but has curved edges. The 250ml bottle stands is approx 14cm tall and 11cm wide. The conditioner is dispensed through a hole at the top with a 'lift-the-flap' cover. ...

Results? Perfect balance between moisture and bounce
Review of Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner by KateHurst

Advantages: Effective, does what it claims to, doesn't weigh hair down
Disadvantages: None, really - but rinse it out well!

...hair) I decided to give Charles Worthington's range another go and I'm glad I did. It seems to be just the thing for my hair. The change in water between university and home confused my hair over three years and by the time I finished studying, it had changed from a mop that could look greasy if left unwashed two nights running to this puzzled thing with drier roots than I'd ever had since I hit my teens. After much experimentation (including a brief ...
...my hair needed moisture desperately. Charles Worthington's Dream Hair range had seemingly also disappeared from the high street chemist chain, so the Moisture Seal offering from his Results range sounded like the next best thing. It's around £4.55 for 250ml (but is sometimes on offer, usually £7 for two). The Moisture Seal conditioner comes in a bright yellow square-looking bottle, which is wide and flat but looks oval when viewed from above. Like ... Read review

Temporary shine
Review of Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner by pureblue

Advantages: Smells great and your hair feels smooth and silky
Disadvantages: Feeling lasts only a few washes

...scarecrow, I decided to try Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner. Boots had a supersaver deal (buy one, get one free), so I might as well get the shampoo as well. I mean, it's a salon brand, so it's bound to transform my hair, right? Now, I'm a fantasist. Maybe I've watched too many shampoo commercials, but I've always imagined myself with long, lustrous hair...so silky and glossy. Tresses bouncing off shoulders with every movement, ...
...hair saviour? The bottle is almost flat and orange in colour. It says on the label that it's right for dry, permed or colour-treated hair, and it's suppose to 'detangle for super-smooth, manageable hair, infuse hair with intense rehydrators and smoothers, boost hair's natural ability to absorb and retain moisture, and protect dry hair from colour loss and heat-styling damage.' Regular use makes hair up to 3 x stronger. And it smells heavenly. It ... Read review

Quick review of Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner
Review of Charles Worthington Results Moisture-Seal Superconditioner by rosehannah

I first bought this in travel size to take on honeymoon to Gambia so every time I use it now the memories of this wonderful country (and my honeymoon) flood back. The scent is gorgeous and it fills the bathroom. I now use it full size at home after most washes, I also use the Aussie conditioner! - thats good too. I use the small size CW at the healthclub and for hols, weekends away etc. It lathers well, even using a small amount ,and leaves my mid length hair fresh, soft and with a beautiful scent and maneagable. I would recommend this product without reservation. Reasonably priced, nice container. Very good.
