Thanks to my newest pal Charlie boy, Alliecat is now a soft pussy that's lovely to stroke! My ultra-dry hair has been transformed from bird's nest status to sexy-sleek touchable glory by a range of products from the salon of Charles Worthington.
I recently had highlights done, and while I’ve been delighted with the way they look, I had forgotten how harsh these kinds of chemicals could be on your hair.
Before, my beloved Lush Trichomania solid shampoo left my hair in perfect condition. Since the colour though, my hair has become very dry and needed a helping hand in the conditioning department.
I popped off to my local Boots and perused the shelves trying to find a solution to my “hay” hair, and there I saw the small but perfectly formed Charles Worthington “Results Take Aways” range.
This
range is exactly the same as the Results salon formulas, but in smaller, more affordable quantities. There are 23 products in the range, including conditioners, hairsprays, waxes, serums and shampoos. My very tiny local Boots store stocked nine or ten of them, all priced at £1.50 each.
They are marketed as beauty products “to go”, handy sizes to take to the gym or on holiday. For me, highly inexperienced in these matters, they were a great way to try an otherwise expensive product without having to shell out for the full sized item.
I chose the Hair Healer Intensive Leave-In Conditioner, which comes in a 50ml pump bottle. The little bottle is clear with the name of the product and all the details printed on in the trademark Charles Worthington navy blue font and the silver “W” logo. The conditioner inside is cream coloured and the lid of the bottle is toned to match the contents. For a product that only cost £1.50, it looks rather nice.
The pump dispenses a very small amount of conditioner at a time and it is very thick and creamy indeed, which you would expect from an “intensive” treatment.
It has a pleasant, slightly sharp and clean floral smell. It isn’t heavy or sweet or cloying like many conditioners. It has a light smell that does stay in your hair, as the product isn’t washed out.
The bottle says the conditioner is a “mega-treatment” for hair and scalp packed with essential oils and hair nourishers and strengtheners. But since I changed my hair, it tends towards greasiness at the root, whilst being dry as a bone on the ends. I decided to apply the conditioner to the drier ends of my hair, avoiding the root.
I finger combed a small amount of the conditioner through my hair, as per the instructions on the bottle. Then I combed it through with a comb, and then styled my hair as normal (oooh, get me, “styled”…I only recently had it cut into a style and started blow drying it, that’s how much I neglected my poor old head!)
To be honest, the results blew me away! The dry and knotty tangle had disappeared and my new hot airstyling brush glided through my hair with the greatest of ease. I applied a tiny amount of Charles Worthington silkening hair serum too, and a spritz of good old Chuck’s blow dry lotion to protect my locks from the heat. And all of a sudden, I had this chic, straight, shiny, soft hairstyle.
For someone who hasn’t had an actual hairstyle for a long time this was an incredible experience. Suddenly I had confidence. My hair shone, and bounced and swung when I moved my head. It felt like silk, all soft and touchable and it smelt lovely and clean. I felt smart and pretty and well groomed (a far cry from my “should have washed it last night, haven’t had it cut for a year, busy Mummy, ignored wife, put it up out of the way ponytail!) It just shows you what a haircut, colour and the right products can do to change a woman’s attitude and bolster her flagging confidence!
I have found that this is a really intensive treatment and it doesn’t need to be used for every wash to keep my hair healthy. I use it once or twice a week when I feel it is needed, and alternate it with a normal conditioner.
I don’t think I shall be buying the large size of this product, I don’t think I need to. It is so concentrated and you use so little of it that the small 50ml bottle will last me for ages. I think, at £1.50, it is a huge bargain.
Looking at the ingredients, it is no wonder it smells so lovely, as it contains Shea Butter and Sunflower, Evening Primrose, Jojoba, Avocado and Almond Oils.
The bottle states that the products are “expertly tested throughout development, but not on animals”, which is a nice thing to know, and is suitable for all hair types. I would particularly recommend it for coloured or treated hair.
For more information about CW products, you can visit his rather flashy web site at www.cwlondon.com. It is quite nicely designed, and you can bypass the annoyingly long flash movie at the beginning, but I think the site has been recently redesigned and some of the links still aren’t working. Give them time and I’m sure it will all be sorted out. Other than those small gripes, it is an attractive and informative site.
So, that’s how Charles Worthington transformed me from “Stig of the Dump” to “silken-haired siren”. I can’t wait to tell you about his Silkening Serum!
LOVE this guy's silkening serum! Will be writting an op on it myself, eventually :)
