This camera was clearly never meant to be anything other than a toy, but - for less than £20 - it is a good one! Despite being absolutely tiny and weighing next to nothing, it takes something like 100 pictures (the exact number depends on the complexity of the pictures) and is extremely easy to use.
On the downside, the picture quality is nowhere near that of a good digital camera (just 0.32 megapixels) and it doesn't have a LCD screen to view your pictures. As the optical viewfinder is not very good, this is quite a problem. I've been using the camera for well over a year and I still can't work out quite how to keep people's heads on! I tend to take three or four shots at a time and hope one turns out. I've also noticed that the battery (it takes just one AAA) doesn't seem to last very long but, as I always use rechargeable batteries, this isn't a major issue.
However, unlike many other cameras at this price, the Spash does have a removeable flash and two focus settings, one being good for most shots (although anything more than a couple of hundred feet away is very blurred) and the other being good for close-ups. It can also take short video clips and can be used as a webcam.
The camera comes with a USB cable and a CD of software which is very easy to install and use and also includes a photo-editing program which is lots of fun!
These days, many people will have a better camera on their phone, but if you haven't, this one is worth a look. It's so cheap, small and light that it is perfect for leaving in the car or in your coat pocket for all those occasions when you just wish you had a camera!
I'd recommend it, but only if you don't want to spend any more than £20!
