I happened upon cheapsmells.com via a google search for a specific perfume I was in search of.
- The website -
This is a very easy website to navigate. There are sections at the top: Home. Login, Register, Basket, Account, Checkout, FAQs and Contact.
Given the headings, I was initially under the impression that I would need to login and register prior to searching, however this is not the case. There’s a search engine on the site which enables you to put in either a keyword or the specific name of the item you are looking for. If you want to be more specific in your search then there are also the following options to choose from: gender, prices, categories and brands, particularly good if you don’t have the time or inclination to sift through endless items and /or have a specific amount you want to spend.
- The items available – The items are broken down in to 7 main categories: ~ perfume ~ aftershave ~ skincare ~ haircare ~ cosmetics ~ bath and body ~ gift sets
Within these categories there are a host of items and brands available, too many to list all of them but here are just a few to give you an idea of the variety: Gucci, Nina Ricci, Burberry, Miss Sixty, Garnier, Biotherm, Hugo Boss, Chanel, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Arden, Rochas, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Clarins etc.
- Some other features –
As well as being able to search for specific items or brands, I sometimes take a peek at the ‘new arrivals’ and ‘special offers’ icons on the website. In the special offer section there really are some good deals to be had, e.g. Ralph Lauren Turquoise Eau de Parfum Spray is for sale at £11.95 when the RRP is £36.50. This is a bit of a lucky dip and on the many times I’ve taken a peek, there’s only ever been one occasion where something specific I was looking for was in this area and I did manage to bag a big saving!
Unlike some other online shopping sites that I have used, the P&P of cheapsmells.com is in my opinion very reasonable: ~ 95p per item (First Class). ~ £1.95 for each gift set. Special delivery options are also available at an extra cost.
Orders are usually dispatched within 1 working day and the majority are delivered within 2-3 working days. Postage is available worldwide with differing costs.
-My Experience –
~ P&P Very reasonable, efficient and well packaged items. On one occasion the perfume that I purchased didn’t arrive. I contacted the company and let them know and was asked to wait a little while longer. I did this and when it still hadn’t turned up after waiting the recommended 8 days, I got in touch with them again and they very promptly sent out a replacement item which arrived! All in all, from my experience, very impressive customer service.
~ Purchases I haven’t bought masses of products from here but the few that I have, have all made quite a saving for me, ranging from £15 to £5 cheaper than the RRP of high street stores. Upon making a payment, you are sent a confirmation of payment email with a reference number. They then send you another email confirming dispatch of the item.
~ Checkout This is very simple to use. You click on the items you wish to buy which are then added to your shopping basket which you can check and delete / remove if you have made an error or change your mind. They request a credit or debit card payment along with a postal address and so on and so forth. Not a hugely time consuming process.
~Overall I can say nothing but positive things about this website: - easy to navigate - items as described - cheap postage - efficient customer service - cheaper than high street stores.
Given all of this I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this site.
(N.B. Ciao’s product heading mentions discounts and voucher codes. When proposing the company I was informed that it was already in the ciao catalogue with this link)
