Advantages: Cheap and very very tasty Disadvantages: none for the price

When on offer they are £1.00 for two decent sized Kievs. By decent sized I mean they are about the same size as your average Cornish pasty. For those unfamiliar with this measurement let me expand, they are about 4.5 inches long domed with the max dome height of about 3 inches.

Divine, that's all there is to say about this meal, apart from the fact that it is pretty substantial. 25 - 30 minutes in a moderate oven and you have yourself a tasty dish. The chopped and shaped chicken which forms the packaging for the cheese and ham, is about a quarter of an inch thick and is quite firm. This means it keeps its shape well when heated, some I have found are not so tightly packed and fall to pieces once heated. The outer casing requires to be of significant strength since the filling although not exactly thin is quite runny.
The creamy cheese sauce looks and smells just like melted cheese, obviously they would be too expensive if this were the case so it is really more of a thick sauce. There are numerous bits of ham scattered about this delicious sauce and some pieces are very substantial. On cutting into the Kiev you can see the cheeses sauce oozing menacingly out of the created orifice. The smell is just yummy.
The ham obviously tastes like ham and I have certainly got no complaints on the quality, texture or taste of the sauce it is adequately covered with. Once mixed with the tasty chicken covering the whole experience is very worthy of a higher price tagged Kiev. I really enjoy these with some of ASDA French fries. Advantages: A luxurious version of the lowly chicken kiev, tastes wonderful, not too heavy on calories Disadvantages: Absolutely none
...come to eat them, these Asda kievs were much better at holding the ham and cheese sauce.
~*~*~ On the plate and ready to eat... ~*~*~
These kievs look lovely. Whenever I cook a ready prepared foodstuff, when I take it out of the oven I always place in on a piece of kitchen roll for a minute or two before putting it on the plate as this soaks up any excess grease that might be on the outside. After taking the kiev off the kitchen roll I noticed ... ...a lovely creamy colour. Asda use 42% chicken in their kievs and the chicken is much thicker than other brands of kiev I've used and I think this is the reason not too much sauce seeped out during cooking. The breadcrumbs used aren't too thick and have an unusual bubbly appearance which isn't apparent before cooking.
~*~*~ The taste test ~*~*~
Absolutely delicious. To tell you about them I'll start on the outside and work my way to the middle. The ...

2 chopped and shaped chicken kievs filled with cheddar cheese and smoked flavour ham in a crispy breadcrumb coating.
I saw them on the supermarket shelves in Tesco’s yesterday, and as its always a problem knowing what to do for dinner everyday (absolute nightmare) thought these looked appetising and tasty, as we haven’t had them for ages they make a good change to the diet.
Packed in a black plastic container covered with ... ...with chipped potatoes and peas on the cover.
Ingredients (for those that complained when I did this last time, making the valued comment that you can see the ingredients for yourself from the packet, you also have to go the supermarket only to find out you have an allergy to some additive)
