Crispy cheesy heaven
Review of Cathedral City Mature Cheddar Cheese by Curlio

Advantages: proper cheese, reasonable price
Disadvantages: not enough in the packet - ever

...very thankful mum these days.. Cathedral City mature cheddar is a very safe choice. On the negative side, it's costing me a fortune and I think we might be eating more than is good for us. Cathedral City is nice to look at, has a texture leaning towards dry and crumbly, smells like real cheese and tastes like cheesy heaven. We have different uses for cheese - for me it's thinly sliced on a Krackawheat or melted on a plain omelette. But the most ...
...over fill the sandwich with Cathedral City and enough very thinly sliced onion to taste the onion but leave the cheese uncorrupted. By overfilling, you ensure that some of the cheese leaks out to form a crispy cheesy skirt round the oozing sandwich. Let the 'skirt' cool while you're pouring the tea. Put the kids off the sofa, switch on Corrie and enjoy. (I've made myself hungry!) ... Read review

Mini Babybel Light
Review of Mini Babybel Light by hessystar

Advantages: Tastes delicious, only 42 calories a cheese!
Disadvantages: absolutely none

...say this about cheese, but Mini Babybel light is just beautiful!! It tastes so delicious, with only 42 calories a cheese. I have always been a cheese eater, and since being on a diet, I needed to find a cheese that I could eat without feeling guilty afterwards. Even though it's small, I don't think you could have a bigger piece of cheese without it being fattening. It can be used in lots of ways: a piece of cheese with a salad, a piece of cheese ...
...it can be eaten anywhere. If you're making lunchboxes for someone who you think could do with losing a few pounds, who usually eats the normal babybel, slip a babybel light in there and they won't even notice! It has the traditional babybel waxy red wrapping, which keeps your little piece of perfect cheese fresh! ... Read review

cracking cheese gromit
Review of Cracker Barrel Mature Cheddar Cheese by QueenAngella

Advantages: great texture and flavour
Disadvantages: expensive

...get one free you say? Cracker Barrel cheese you say? £1.98 you say? 200g you say? TImes two you say? Not bad I say! lets snap em up quick sharpish. And so a bad day becomes a good day. Of course no one can wait to try our bar of cheesy gold, and so we have some delightful sandwiches. The bread and spread cannot be forgotten here, they served faultlessly, but they are but bit-parts here and must wait to star in their own review if they want the spotlight. ...
...brought to our household by the sandwiches. I could tell you that they melted most instinctively in my mouth, that the balance was perfect, that the cheese dominated just enough to be fully appreciated, but not so much as to be overwhelming. I could wax lyrical on the joys of butter substitute spread paired with this cheese and enveleoped in the loving embrace of white bread. Of course I shall do no such thing. It would be absurd and horrifically ... Read review

Cheese please!
Review of Tesco Value Cheddar by aless02

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Not the strongest flavour ever

...ultra-sharp cheddar shouldn't be buying Tesco Value. When I want a sharper cheddar, I pay more. When I want something easy and yummy for sandwiches, I use Tesco Value. The Red Leicester also has a great taste and is more crumbly, for those wanting a more "cheddar-like" cheese. This cheese comes in blocks of approx. £1, £2, and £3 to suit all family sizes (the weight depends on price, but the pound-per-kilo price is still excellent value) The mild ... Read review

A Good "rarebit" of Welsh Cheese
Review of Y- Fenni by tune57

Advantages: Delicious not as greasy as some cheddars are.
Disadvantages: May be difficult to find.

I first discovered Y- Fenni some years ago in a delicatessen on one of our monthly trips to Doncaster and being a lover of cheese couldn't resist buying some to try, along with a few others I hadn't tasted before. Imagine my delight when I spotted some on the deli counter in my local Tesco a few weeks ago and unable to resist the temptation, I quickly popped some in my trolley. Y - Fenni (sometimes called Red Dragon) is a Welsh cheese and takes ...
...in a protective wax. Y- Fenni's wax coating is a very pale yellow in colour The Red Dragon's wax, as you may have guessed is red although I haven't seen this version for sale anywhere as yet. A whole cheese measures 12 inches in diameter with a depth of 4 inches, although I believe smaller ones are made too. The piece I bought weighed 0.190kg and was priced at £1.46 had been cut and packed in store, It also carried a use by date of 7days, which ... Read review
