I graduated from Chemical Engineering in 1997. The long lasting impression that I got from it was that there were some very good lecturers in the department and the course was well thought but that it wasn't forward thinking. They weren't open to new ideas of where chemical engineering was headed in the future. The research side was still clinging to distillation collumns (old hat) and that type of thing, rather than looking to, say, the development of biomaterials etc. There were some things that I don't think were well taught and some of the course were unevenly balanced in the amount of marks you got from coursework. Other than that the lecturers would go out of their way to help you out. Nottingham, as a city, was excellent.
