I bought a Blazer 6 months ago after owning Frontera's, Shoguns and numerous landrovers. By far the S10 UK spec Blazer leaves them in the dust, mines LPG converted making it supprisingly economic, drive it on a motorway run and you can return fantstic value for money, i took mine to France recently and drove from York to Dover at motorway speeds with 4 adults and luggage and cost was £40. I had heard reports that parts were expensive, my outlook on this is overall the cost of chevrolet parts is relative to owning a Range Rover. if your willing to wait parts are easily obtained from the USA at reasonable costs (just watch for the shipping fees)
The comfort offered by the Chevrolet is amazing, you can spend a whole day behind the wheel and still get out feeling fresh, the drive is amazingly easy for such a big vehicle. Parking in town can be tricky sometimes as it does suffer LARGE blindspots on both sides, large enough to loose a medium size van if your not watching.
The BIG thing with the Blazer is to make sure you keep it well maintained, regular fluid changes to engine and transmission including BOTH diffs. also ensure you run NEAT dexcool in the cooling system don't run Antifreeze and water the engine DOES NOT LIKE IT.. and it could turn out very costly.. Check the heater blows hot and within a couple of mins of starting the engine blows warm. failure to do this could spell out future problems.. Also if like me your not a fan of those Chevrolet wheels, then contry to popular belief BMW wheels DO NOT FIT chevrolet wheels are 120.6pcd 5 stud which is Jaguar XJS or Aston Martin...
Its load and towing capacity is amazing i use it to tow a car trailer arround and often i find myself forgetting that the trailer is on the back. Bossal manufacture an E approved towbar kit for a reasonable price
But in all i would buy another without question and at the end of the day it is something different to a Range Rover, no matter where i go people look at it and often i get them coming over asking to have a look. By far the best modern 4x4 ive had the pleasure of driving i even prefer my 2000 Blazer to an 05 Merc ML I tested...
