The Corvette is too fast and too ferocious

Advantages: Good 6-speed automatic transmission. Good ride quality, pure Americana
Disadvantages: Might ruin your hairstyle, causes wind-blown hair !

The Chevrolet Convertible, is a pure American emotional drive. If there is one car in the world that is absolutely 100% Americana...I believe its the Chevrolet Corvette. Back in the 50s a group of core engineers at Chevrolet were designated to create an American sports-car...and "bish-bash-bosh"...6 generations later...you have the C6 Chevrolet Convertible being reviewed. I'm going to take a peek inside, and yes it does actually have a boot as well. But lets start by looking under the bonnet. Okay "hood" open. I can see it has the LS2 engine, and you better believe it, its a big piece of American iron. Call it 6 litres if you want. I'm going to call it 364 cubic inches, I don't know when and where exactly the litres came in, long ago it was all about cubic inches. This motor has 400 hp and 400 lbs-ft (542 Nm) of torque...which in my ...

So you want to know about Corvettes - right...

Advantages: same as before only windier
Disadvantages: same as before only windier

to keep costs down. The Corvette would have been produced with a conventional steel body, but for the fact that the tooling required to press the body panels would have been too expensive so Earl and his team turned to the (then) relatively new process of moulding the panels from glass fibre. As a result, every Corvette ever produced has had a plastic body shell and this is one of the reasons why so many have survived. Glass fibre doesn?t rust. Earl wanted a V8 motor for his new baby but only Cadillac, Buick and Oldsmobile produced them at the time and since the new car would appear under the Chevrolet soubriquet he had to make do with the ageing ?Blue Flame? in-line six cylinder Chevy unit. It had originally been designed in 1941 as a truck engine and quite frankly, it was a shit motor. In standard trim the 235 cubic inch unit (about ...

Review of Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Rocket-powered Sports!

Advantages: Quick, stylish, classy nad comparitively cheap.
Disadvantages: LHD and high fuel costs may deter some drivers.

First off, let me give you the car's vital statistics - 5.7 Litre V8 powerplant, with a 0-60 time of around 6 seconds. Bye bye, BMW M3, Bye-bye, Nissan Skyline. This car is FAST. make no mistake. By now you're thinking, 'I've never heard of Chevrolet!". That's right, you probably haven't. Chevrolet are American, as is this car and, like all things American, the philosophy 'Big is Best' rules here. The massive engine puts out around 280bhp, and the growl from the exhaust is something else. I have turned more heads in this than I think any Porsche on the road today could. The big difference? A new Camaro will set you back about £18 000. For that, you can expect to get a very comfortable leather interior, air conditioning, and as many trimmings as you can shake a stick at - cruise control, airbags, alloy wheels - you get the idea. The car ...
