Car Reviews of Chevrolet Corvette »

The Corvette is too fast and too ferocious

Advantages: Good 6-speed automatic transmission. Good ride quality, pure Americana
Disadvantages: Might ruin your hairstyle, causes wind-blown hair !

The Chevrolet Convertible, is a pure American emotional drive. If there is one car in the world that is absolutely 100% Americana...I believe its the Chevrolet Corvette. Back in the 50s a group of core engineers at Chevrolet were designated to create an American sports-car...and "bish-bash-bosh"...6 generations later...you have the C6 Chevrolet Convertible being reviewed. I'm going to take a peek inside, and yes it does actually have a boot as well. ...
...want to be in a Chevrolet Convertible, that's in the drivers seat. I could write about the selective ride, I could write about the new navigation system, the incredible audio system, all the new gauges personable to everything you could possibly imagine to make this car my own. And that's truly what the ownership of a Corvette is about. But what it comes down to is this when I am in the driver's seat, I'm out, on the road, wind in my hair..there's ...

Little Red Corvette

Advantages: speed, style, affordability
Disadvantages: interior size, comfort, availability

When I was a young woman there was a middle-aged man that took a fancy to me. Although he was a nice man I had no romantic interest in him whatsoever. One day he arrived at my home and asked me to have a spin in his new car. It was a brand new red corvette . Although I didn't care to date the gentleman the offer of a drive was too much to resist. The car was fast and furious--it hugged the curves like it was on a rail! And the thrill of being seen ...
...in the midwest United States. I had no idea why a settled businessman would want a car so youthful and daring--until I aged a bit myself . It sure makes you feel young again to fly round the town in a corvette! However, age does take a toll and the car just doesn't seem as comfortable as it did in the summer of my youth. It feels like sitting in a small box resting on the pavement. Ah, to be 19 once again! ...

So you want to know about Corvettes - right...

Advantages: same as before only windier
Disadvantages: same as before only windier

...car would appear under the Chevrolet soubriquet he had to make do with the ageing “Blue Flame” in-line six cylinder Chevy unit. It had originally been designed in 1941 as a truck engine and quite frankly, it was a shit motor. In standard trim the 235 cubic inch unit (about 4 litres) gave a measly 115 horsepower. However, the Chevy engineers managed to get it up to 150 hp for the Corvette. By comparison, the XK120 delivered 180 hp from its smaller ...
...a month before production started, Chevrolet hired a brilliant engineer named Zora Arkuss-Duntov; he was to become the father and saviour of the Corvette. Not a young man, he was 44, he would nevertheless nurse the Corvette and fight its corner for the next 22 years. Production moved to St Louis over Christmas 1953. The new plant had the capacity to produce 10,000 cars per year but only three and a half thousand came off the line in ’54, of which ...

...two names but had three, Chevrolet Corvette Sting-Ray, all screamed its origins as being not of the world as I knew it. Around about the same time I saw my first full-sized Corvette, on Pilgrim Street, in Newcastle, of all places. It announced its presence by the V8 Growl from its chromed side pipes. You could almost feel the ground shake as it rumbled past. A black 1964 soft-top, it had originally belonged to Eric Burden of the pop group The Animals, ...
...well known Corvette enthusiast and author, owned it. What a motor! I made my mind up there and then. Some day, one day, I was going to own one of these fire-breathing monsters. For me, you can keep your Ferraris and Lamborghini's with their schizophrenic natures and highly stressed engines that sometimes run but more often don't. Give me a big-block Vette and watch me smoke the bastards! I didn't see another Corvette in the flesh until I was seventeen. ...
