When my 4 month old little boy tipped him bouncer seat up for the thrid time, due to his size, I decided that would have to get on the internet and the Argos catalogue out and get him a highchair.
Despite all the available chairs stating that they are all suitable from 6 months to 3 years I decidede to use my own descretion as a mother and buy him one.
I opted for the Chicco happy snack highchair due to the fact that it was a great price and the seat also reclined to 2 further positions aswell as the upright position.
The
highchair has a very sturdy metal frame which measures 27 inches high from floor to the bottom of the seat. the width is 18 inches and when opened out the depth of the legs spans 30 inches.
The seat measures approximately 17 inches high and 14 inches wide, it is also approximately 10 inces deep.
In total the chair measure approximately 38 inches in height.
The seat is well padded and comes in a variety of different designs. The one featured in the catalogue where I chose this product looked a great neutral colour so I was a bit dissapointed when I paid for the item and they said that the design shown might be different from the one received. I decided that this would be ok as long as it was not pink. I was plesantly suprised when I got this chair home and it was the same design as in the catalogue. The seat pad is dark blue on the edges and lighter blue in the middle. There is a picture of an orange fish on the back and 3 bubbles coming out of the fishes mouth. The seat pad is well padded and fits nicely over the plastic seat frame.
There is a 5 point safety harness on the chair so your child will be securley sitting and safe when feeding. There is also a plastic part which sticks up from the bottom of the chair which stops you child from wriggling or slipping down in the seat.
The tray is good as it has 4 different positions so as your child grows so they dont always have to have it so close to them that they cant move properly. The tray measures 22 inches wide at its widest point by 11 inches deep. There is also a moulded cup holder on the tray.
There is a large net storage basket which fits onto the legs of the chair which is great for storage. I find that keeping some of my little boys toys in here are handy for when he wants to play and not eat. I do find that at times this basket can cause a problem as my 3 year old likes to empty the toys and sit in it pretending that it is a car!
There is also a plastic foot rest approximately 6 inches below the chair section which I have not actually used yet but when my little boy gets bigger this will help with comfort when in the chair.
I also find that my little boys enjoys sitting in his highchair so that he is higher up than his older brothers and he can see all around. I do take the tray off for him but also I know that due to the 5 point safety harness he is still securley strapped in and could not escape.
The chair does fold up into a nice compact size but I do not find that I use this feature often as I always have mine open and ready for use.
I find that it is very easy to clean this chair as the tray is plastic and the seat is also wipable so a disinfectant spray a cloth and a few minutes are all it takes to have this sparkling clean and ready for the next time.
When purchased the chair you receive will need assembling. I found that this was very easy to to dand only consisted of putting the metal legs together which securly fitted with a metal pin. Snapping the plastic seat into the position and then placing the plastic handles on. Also attaching the net basket which is done with popperstuds.
I was again plesantly suprised when I went to purchase my highchair as it was in the sale and I only paid £39.99, full price it is £49.99 which I think is a lovely price for such a great highchair as it comes in handy for so many things, not just meal times.
I would highly recommend this chair for anyone who is looking to buy one. Why pay silly money for a massive expensive item when this one is a great price and does a wonderful job.
