Now that my little fellow is on solids I thought it was about time he need a highchair. With him being my first child I didnt have a clue about what to look for so I went to mothercare to have a look around. All the highchairs I seen were only suitable for aged 6 months and over, Rhys was only four months at the time but he's a big lad so I thought it would be ok. I was drawn to this particular highchair as is seemed very sturdy, well made and the colour was nice, (my one is blue with white circles on it although they did have it avaliable in pink and I do believe that depending on where you buy this chair they have different patterns, such as fishes or a pattern like the one in the above picture).
Vital Statisics/Stability
This chair as I said is very well made with metal legs the weight of the chair is 6.3 kg so is really not the heavy to carry. The height is approximatly 37 inches from the legs to the top of the chair. The width is approximatly 18 inches. The open leg span is approximatly 30 inches.
Safety
The chair has a five point safety harness with grows with your child by sliding the buckles up or down, similar to what you would find on a pushchair. It also has a bar which goes in between the legs so as the child can not fall out the bottom. The tray cannot be moved without two buttons either side being pressed in at the same time so there is no chance that the child can trap fingers in it.
Chair
The chair is deep padded for extra comfort and is made of PVC so this means it is easy to wipe clean after a messy dinner time. The seat can be taken off, although it takes abit longer as you have to take the harness out of the holes, but as I said it just as easy to wipe clean. The chair has 3 positions so the can sit up straight whilst eating or lie back a little for drinking bottles. It has been known for Rhys to fall asleep so as not to disturb him I tend to lie it back slightly. The tray has 4 positons so as the child grows, then so does the chair. The tray moves by two buttons either side being pressed in together, and has a bottle/cup holder in it
There is also a footrest, which we havent tested yet as he is not long enough but its there for when he is and a basket which is fastened on by popper buttons. This is great as it can be used for toy storage.
Assembling the chair
The assembling of the chair was so simple I done it myself. The instuctions that came with the chair were simple to follow. You just basically click the componants together, its so simple anyone could put it together.
All in all this is not just a highchair for meals times, it also acts as a safe place to play whilst you potter around. My son loves sitting in this and playing with his toys, which can then be stored away. Closed it is compact but to be honest it is very rairly closed as Im using it all the time.
I would reccommend this chair to all. It is suitable for between ^ months and 3 years of age. It has also been awarded the "practical parenting" best buy award.
It cost me £49.99 form Mothercare but I do believe it to be available in all good stores, at the same or similar cost.

Advantages: folds flat, reclines, tray comes off easily, underchair storage. Disadvantages: Can be difficult to collapse impossible if you only have one hand free, bits get trapped.
