I bought the Chicco Happy Snack highchair in the Seventy design from Kiddicare about 18 months ago and still absolutely love it! I paid £49.95 at the time. The prices vary on other websites but all of them are under £50 which is fantastic value for money considering the quality of highchair.
The item is deemed suitable for children from 6 - 36 months/3 years.
The assembly was very simple and straight forward. The instructions were clear and easy to understand.
It is very secure with an adjustable (shoulders and waist) 5-point harness and an additional rigid plastic crotch strap (rounded off around all corners). This feature is fabulous because there is no chance that your little one can slip under the table before you had chance to secure the safety straps recalling several temper tantrums of my daughter.
The seat is very spacious and even a growing toddler fits into it nicely without getting his tummy or legs painfully squashed. The seat is nicely padded and I am quite happy to leave my 2-year-old daughter sit in it for longer after lunch to do some drawing or to read a book. The seat cover is easily removed and can be either wiped off or put in the washing machine at low temperature for a more thorough clean.
The backrest can be reclined into three positions which was a major selling point for me at the time of purchase as my baby was only just sitting up and my eldest had a habit of dropping off in her highchair when she was that age and wanted to be kitted out just in case the little one turned out to be a meal time snoozer too.
The table tray is quite large and has raised edges all around preventing food, plates, cutlery and whatever else you will need for your little ones dinner to fall off the table. It also has a shallow cup holder moulded into it and most standard sized bottles and cups will easily fit into it. The size of the table makes it great for other activities too not just eating.
The tray has 4 positions and grows with your baby as it leaves your baby enough tummy room to sit comfortably whilst growing bigger.
The Happy Snack also features a large storage basket underneath the seat which is sooooo useful. You will not believe the amount of toys, bibs and crayons we have managed to fill it up with. A further probably unintended feature of the storage bag is that it will catch almost every bit of food that spills downwards. This "function" requires for it to be cleaned on a regular basis but saves you having to buy a splash mat or having to mop your floor three times a day. :-D
The storage basket is hooked into a button on each of the legs and comes away very easily if required. It will also fold together should you require folding away the highchair. I have done this only very occasionally when friends come for dinner as I find the Happy Snack a little bit to bulky due to the padding of the seat to tuck into a corner but it is possible. The fold away process required a few attempts but you will suss it out pretty quickly after it has lost its stiffness after the being brand new.
I have to say that I found the Happy Snack all together being very safe, sturdy and stable and well thought through. I also love the various colourful designs. I am sure there is one for everyone's taste. The value for money is exceptional and I think you will find it difficult to find a highchair of the same quality for that kind of money anywhere else on the retail market.
I would definitely buy it again if I made the decision to have more children - which believe you me is out of the question at the moment! I am trying to regain some of my sanity again after having two. LOL
