I bought this highchair from Mothercare for £99. I haven't seen them anywhere else, so I hope I got a good price! I chose it because it was the prettiest one there, but am pleased to say that there are many other things that make it a good buy. The highchair is suitable from 5 months, but there are several things you might want to consider if buying for a younger/smaller baby.
First of all, it requires no assembly, which is essential for me as time is a luxury I do not have! It has a 6-position height adjustable seat, which is handy for when pulling it up to the table. My baby likes to be put in one of the lower positions so he can sit with me when I watch TV! I find that it is very easy to adjust, but you must make sure you take your baby out first as it can fall very fast!
The back is also adjustable; to sit up straight, lie back a bit, or lie back a lot! This makes it suitable for younger babies, I like to use the middle setting so Oliver is not too upright, but not lying back so far he'll choke!
The straps are easily adjustable, but they are quite stiff. It is a 5-point harness, which is essential to avoid baby slipping out!
The tray is removable so your baby can be brought right up to the table if desired, and it is very large to allow playing as well as feeding. However, the tray is very high up. Oliver is now 7 months old, and I haven't yet been able to use the tray as it sits in line with his face.
Some of the models come with wheels, whick can be locked in place, but mine didn't. The highchair is very heavy, and as it has no wheels I have had trouble moving it. If you are going to buy htis product, I definitely recommend that you make sure your model has wheels!
It is also very large and takes up half of my kitchen, which drives me mad every time I try to come through with the pram! However, it does fold up nicely to sit against the wall or in a large cupboard!
It is very sturdy; I can pull Oliver up to the table with no fear of him kicking it over backwards.
The seat cover is removable and fully waterproofed for ease of cleaning, but Oliver likes to chew the straps and they are difficult to clean. Also, there are lots of open screw holes and seals, and I find it very difficult to get the food out of them!
They are available in two colours; the black and white check which is very smart; and the one that I have, which is pink, yellow and blue checks. It sounds horrible but in actual fact it is gorgeous. The legs are dark blue and the tray is yellow. Being quite a colourful person, this highchair suits me down to the ground!!!
