Advantages: Great graphics, various gradable weapons… it's perfect. Disadvantages: Disadvantages? That I killed so many chickens and I enjoyed hearing their squeaks?

Chicken Invaders Episode III Christmas Edition Revenge of the Yolk
This is the first game review I write, but the fact that it is my favorite one should help. As the name of this game indicates, it is about chickens, which have been dominated by humans for a long time, and so decided to rebel. In Episode I, they invaded Earth; in II, they invaded the solar system; and now in III, the whole galaxy is in their hands. Of course, it's up to me, as a Captain, to liberate you all, because if I fail, we will all end up as "a part of the menu in a galactic chicken restaurant."
To start with, and unlike what happens in most film sequels, this particular episode is much more enjoyable than the previous ones. In it the player should make a long trip starting with "The Great Unknown" and ending, of course, with "The Solar System". Each of these 12 stages includes 10 encounters, with the exception of the last one which has an additional battle. One of the things I loved about this game is the variety of battles the player has to fight. The main encounter remains to be "The Classic Invasion" in which one has to kill a number of chicken moving from side to side and throwing deadly eggs. However, this is not the only kind; there is also chicken square dance, chicken huddle, pop till they drop, etc… and each stage ends by your triumphing over a different Boss which can be anything.
As I mentioned earlier, you should stay away from the dropping eggs, but as you kill chickens fried chicken thighs, chicken burgers, and whole fried chickens fall, and you should collect them. This is because 50 chicken thighs give you a missile and a whole chicken counts as five thighs. Sometimes, however, you kill a chicken and you get nothing but a feather which is not useful at all. Finishing a mission without using any missile is not impossible (see medal number 5), but it is very difficult at times considering the fact that the captain has five lives only.
The music is suitable for Christmas of course but it is not boring in any way, and it is not annoying like some other adventure games. I remember when I was young how the music in Super Mario made me tense (of course that did not prevent me from playing till my eyes were red); this one isn't like that. Anyway, the real music to your ears remains to be the chickens' screams as you kill them. I'm neither a sadist (well… I never killed anyone before) nor an animal hater, but it's just… funny.
As for the graphics, the first thing you notice is the dark blue background which is very comfortable in case you decide to play the game for a very long time, and believe me, you will. The chickens wear colorful clothes and always look funny.<> Weapons:
You will notice different small presents falling from the sky; each of these gives the player a different weapon. They will be six at first, but when you prove what a competent captain you are they give you the seventh, which I'm dying to talk about but can't simply because discovering it is a part of the adventure. All these weapons are gradable; all you have to do is to collect the radiant shapes that falls from the sky again, to make your weapon stronger. But, be careful, dying make you lose the additional power of your weapon, and I have to tell you, this is just terrible. Which one is the best weapon to have? This question is unanswerable because each encounter requires a certain weapon; you'll find yourself changing your weapon continuously.
<> Difficulty:
1. Rookie. 2. Veteran. 3. Superstar: This is where you shoot the chicken once.. twice.. three times… why isn't it dead yet? Well, killing is more difficult in this stage.<> Unlockables: There are seven of these in this game, but what are they? They are additional advantages that you only get when you complete a whole mission in different difficulties. Of course I cannot tell you what these are specifically because you have to win them yourself; just make sure you activate the unlockable you get every time you finish a mission. <> Medals:
1. "I Eat Chickens for Breakfast" Campaign Trophy : Awarded for completing a mission on the superstar hero difficulty level.

12. Order of the Teflon Certificate of Merit : Awarded for no deaths in a single star system.
13. Medal of Great Appetite Achievement : Awarded for 90% food collection in a single wave.<> Recommended? All these variations in battles, weapons, etc… in addition to the fact that you have to finish the whole campaign many times from beginning to end in order to have access to the unlockables; all this makes the game very addictive. The more you play it the more you admire its complexity. For instance, when you lose the five lives of your captain and consequently lose the game, you find certain tips at the bottom of the screen. Usually the tips help you in winning and have to do with the strategy which is used, for instance, by the UCO (unidentified chicken object) to shoot you. Moreover, at times you find tips to the effect that experimenting allows you to know which weapon is more effective with a certain kind of "enemies".

<> Title: the title of my review is a combination of what I read in the introduction to this game and what Claudius says in HAMLET: "What if this cursed hand/Were thicker than itself with brother's blood,/Is there not rain enough in the sweet heavens/To wash it white as snow?" Quite crazy.. but not crazier than the game.
