My aunty lives in Moosejaw in Canada and one christmas a couple of years ago, we eagerly opened her christmas present up. At this point we realised it was a book called Chicken Soup and thought why the hell as she sent us a book about Chicken Soup.
The Cover

The main part of the cover is white and it has the title of the book, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul. It is stories about pets as teachers, healers, heroes and friends. It has stories in written by american novelists and everyday people. In fact I got so much into it, I sent them a story.
On the back is comments by people and also on the front cover is a child like picture of certain animals.
This book was printed in 1998 and the ISBN number if you want to purchase it is 1-55874-571-8.
The Stories

The whole book contains short stories about our pets, many of whom we take for granted. It could be about a dog who saved a life or a turkey and what it gave to the world.
The book covers all sorts of animals allthough most of them are about cats and dogs. This is quite understandable as many of us do not have any other pets.
Some of the many stories include zoo keepers who worked outside their working hours to save a baby gorilla. Ones about swimming with Dolphins and how it made a disabeled girls come true, another about a dog who went to a new home but would not settle and travelled miles back to its original owner.
The stories are all true and heartwarming and the editors also invite you to write in with your story. This is a sort of book that you could put down and come back to months later.
There are 380 pages of short stories, some are very sad and some are heartwarming and then last 20 pages are all about pet organisations.
I do not want to go into any particular story as all I want to do is give you an overview of the book as I do not want to spoil it for you all.
With Christmas coming up any pet lover would like this book to be in their stocking. It makes great reading. There is going to be another Chicken Soup book coming out shortly.

Would I recommend it?

Yes I would as I love stories about pets, but sometimes they are too long winded where as this book they are all short stories. Just enough to get one intime for bed night reading.
There is no nastiness in the book and it is such a beautiful book to read and it makes you think about your pets in a different way. It made me think how lucky my pets are to have owners like us who would do anything for them and think about the pets who are not so lucky.
As I said before Christmas is nearly upon us, so get out there and buy it!
