I saw a frozen ready meal of Chicken Tikka with Basmati Rice, which is one of the meals from the Asda Good For You Range. It was priced at just £1.47, which made me think that it wasn’t going to be a big meal by any stretch of the imagination!

...a frozen ready meal of Chicken Tikka with Basmati Rice, which is one of the meals from the Asda Good For You Range. It was priced at just £1.47, which made me think that it wasn’t going to be a big meal by any stretch of the imagination!
‘Good For You’ at Asda provides a wide range of all different foods such as ready meals, fish, cheese, meat, yoghurt, biscuits, snacks, sweets and cereals. These have a lower fat content than the equivalent ‘ordinary’ ... ...The writing on the Chicken Tikka box described the meal as ‘marinated chicken breast pieces in a light, creamy Tikka sauce, served with turmeric basmati rice’.
The next time that Dave arrived home late in the evening I decided to pop this one in the microwave and see what it was like. We have a big advantage when trying new products like this – if they happen to be awful we are within walking distance of Chinese, Balti, Indian, Pizza and Fish Shop ...

Advantages: Read the review Disadvantages: you lazy buggers
...Bizarrely, having written a few ready meal ops here a fortnight or so ago I kinda started feeling a little guilty at my laziness and actually went out of my way to do some proper cooking for a change. Old habits die hard though and when my local supermarket had a bogof on various microwave meals the temptation was too much to resist (and the novelty had worn off) so the boxes and packets returned once more...and this one made me feel a little less guilty because it claims it is 'healthy eating' being as it is low in fat as well as being lower in salt and sugar than other similar products. It's a good enough argument when you were already looking for an excuse...
~What It Is~
Well, the box describes it as "Marinated chicken breast pieces in a light, creamy tikka sauce, served with turmeric basmatirice" which sums it up better than...

Advantages: IF YOU GET A GOOD ONE, THE TASTE IS HEAVEN Disadvantages: INCONSISTENCY OF PRODUCT, NOT CHEAP
...When I was younger I used to be a major fan of M&S Foods. Then the supermarkets started to catch up and M&S no longer seemed quite a good investment or a hassle to visit, as it was virtually impossible to do a full weeks shopping.
However, a few weeks ago, Tasha and I were trying to seek out a very nice and fattening dessert that they produce containing syrup, sponge, custard and cream and of course I couldn’t go in without waiting to see what other goodies they had in tow, when I stumbled across the BIG DISH ChickenTikka Biryani described as:
“Tender pieces of chickentikka breast in a rich creamy curry sauce with friend onions and an aromatic basmatirice”
Priced at £3.49, substantially cheaper than the norm at my local Indian Restaurant, where the same dish would set me back around £7.00, I decided it was too good...
