A World So Much Better Than Our Own (Spoilers)
Review of Harry Potter Boxed Set: Children's Edition (Harry Potter) - J.K. Rowling by
faders321
Advantages: A fantastic series with a total of 3704 pages!!
Disadvantages: Can be a bit to long for younger children
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows was written by J.K Rowling. Joanne Kathleen Rowling on July 31st 1965 in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. She was bought up near Bristol with her parents and younger sister Di until she was 9 years old when they moved to a village called Tutshill near Chepstow in Wales.
In 1983 Miss Rowling finished school and went to the University of Exeter to study French. After finishing University she worked for Amnesty ... ...had the inspiration for the Harry potter series. She began writing the first book that very evening.
Unfortunately in December 1990 J.K Rowling's mother died, she had been suffering from multiple sclerosis, a disease which makes the immune system attack the central nervous system for almost 10 years before. J.K Rowling then moved to Portugal and married a Portuguese man. In 1993, although her marriage didn't work out, her daughter Jessica Isabel ...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Audio)
Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) [Children's Edition] (Harry Potter Audio Book) - J. K. Rowling by
midpikyrozziy
Advantages: Hours of captivating plot and many twists and turns
Disadvantages: Character voices occasionally a bit suspect
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is an extremely worthy end to a great series by Joanne Rowlings. The book centers around Harry, Ron and Hermione trying to find and destroy all the horcruxes that make Lord Voldemort invincible.
There was always bound to be a huge expectation for the ending of this series, and Rowlings does not disappoint. Without giving anything away, it ties up any loose ends there are, and provides an exciting, dramatic finale ... ...there is a never a dull moment in the book. What makes the series brilliant is not only the terrific imagination of Rowlings to create a magical new world, but also the diversity and vivid descriptions of all the brilliant characters - you can clearly see the author has planned each characters path carefully.
Another great factor of these books is that they are not only enjoyed by children. Millions of adults, as well as millions more children, ...

OF ISLANDS, NAMES AND DRAGONS
Review of A Wizard of Earthsea - Ursula K. Le Guin by
magdadh
Advantages: fascinating, rich, consistent world; good, compelling story; characters as archetypal (!!) as it gets; a genre classic
Disadvantages: mode of narration perhaps not to everybody's liking; some slightly clumsy language
...number of people who wrote a review of this book on Ciao is TWO, in comparison with "The Lord of the Ring"'s seventy six at the last count. But to those in the know, the "Earthsea" cycle is up there in the fantasy Pantheon, with Tolkien and the 'Once and Future King'; high above all the Belgariads and Shannaras.
Ursula K. Le Guin is not a strictly-fantasy writer, in fact she has written much more of s-f than fantasy. Her s-f works delight in designing ... ...biology or/and geography. She is a writer of a great sociological passion and strong convictions, and these show quite clearly especially towards the end of the 'Earthsea' series. The whole cycle comprises five titles and spans almost half a century of the author's life; telling the story of Ged Sparrowhawk, a wizard and a dragonlord, the Archmage and a sailor, goatherd and farmer; from his childhood on the island of Gont to his journeys to the end ...

A lovely book
Review of All of a kind Family - Sydney Taylor by
sophie5914
Advantages: A good book, nice illustrations
Disadvantages: Predictable ending
This is a lovely book! It's set in New York at the beginning of the 20th century. The main characters are the All-of-a-kind Family - Ella, Henny, Sarah, Charlotte and Gertie. They are 5 sisters with very different personalities! Each chapter is a short story about the family, such as when Sarah loses her library book, when the family get scarlet fever, or when they go to the sea-side. I think this is great for young kids, as they can just pick up ... ...family is Jewish, and their religion plays a big part in the book. I think this is a great and much more interesting way for kids to learn about Jewish festivals.
The only downside is the ending. Though it is sweet, it is pretty predictable! But overall, I'd say this is a great book, and I'd recommend it to kids of around 6-10. ...

Developmental Juvenile Osteology
Review of Developmental Juvenile Osteology - Louise Scheuer by
nicki_221987
Advantages: Has a lot of digrams and labels in which are very helpful!!
Disadvantages: Is quite a lot to take in from cover to cover!!
Developmental Juvenile Osteology Louise Scheuer and Sue Black: It is critical that the Juvenile skeleton is correctly identified, so that the analysis of human remains can be done! If you cannot identify the skeletal components in a Juvenile then it is impossible to establish the number of individuals present or to identify the age at death. This book is specifically designed to deal with this problem. It is mainly aimed at professional people in ... ...the wider scientific areas.
The book is logically ordered and is fairly easy to navigate as it has an introduction to the text and a guide to the text at the beginning. I found this fairly easy to find the information I required from it.
The book goes over all the areas of a juvenile skeleton such as the growth of the skeleton, embryological development, the vertebral column, the pelvic girdle etc. I found the book very informative on the whole ...
