uncle Diddi rocks!
Review of So Much - Trish Cooke by
anwar
Advantages: Great fun to read
Disadvantages: none
I first came across so much when it was read on children’s T.V .I remember sitting on my bed with my small son next to me and we were both enthralled by this simple, but very different story. I liked it so much, that I went out and bought a copy. The Story
So much is a story that captures Afro-Caribbean home life perfectly. The story begins with mum and the baby at home,” They weren’t doing anything, mum and the baby, nothing really, then, DING ... ...Auntie Bibba loves the baby so much she wants to squeeze him. The book continues with more and more relations and friends arriving, all wanting to show their love for the baby in different ways. Cousin KAY-KAY arrives in trendy gear complete with baseball cap. He shows his love for the baby by wanting to play fight him! Hey,pow,pow! I want to fight him, I want to fight him SO MUCH! The illustration clearly shows both cousin KAY-KAY and the baby laughing ...

Airman
Review of Airman - Eoin Colfer by
fluffaduck
Advantages: Very good overall plot and structure. Also a refreshingly new idea.
Disadvantages: Slightly heavy going in the middle.
This is book is brilliant fantasy tale which blends modern outlooks and opinions, with more ancient science and good old fashioned determination to ful fill a childhood dream.
The book begins with Conor Broekhart learning a little about his ambition to fly, and progress to the point when it seems thast he is on the brink of the greatest discovery of all, when suddenley disaster strikes and conor is being labelled a traitor.Can he escape his captors, ...

Is it really time for bed?
Review of Maisy Goes to Bed - Lucy Cousins by
neenn
Advantages: Tells a story about what to do before bedtime.
Disadvantages: None
Maisy goes to bed is a children's picture book from the series of Maisy books by Lucy Cousins, a few of which I have listed below:
* Maisy goes swimming
* Maisy takes a bath
* Maisy at the farm
* Maisy's colours
* Maisy's ABC
* Maisy Dresses Up
All of these books are great for pre-school children as they contain elements that are familiar to very young children and are a great educational tool.
~ Who is Maisy? ~
Maisy is a white mouse with ... ...don't actually wear clothes!
Maisy does a lot of things that are relevant to young children, getting dressed, learning about colours, going in the bath etc which means that they can relate to Maisy and really enjoy the series of books.
~ Maisy goes to bed ~
Not surprisingly, this book is about Maisy getting ready for bed and what she needs to do before going to bed:
* have a drink
* go to the loo
* wash her hands
* brush her teeth
* put her ...

Alison Croggon's 'The Riddle'
Review of The Riddle - Alison Croggon by
bnmnmmb
Advantages: A fantastic second half to the novel
Disadvantages: A slow start to the plot
As a great fan of the first book in the Pellinor series I approached this book with a sense of eager anticipation. If it was anything like the first book then it would be fantasticly entertaining. And yet when I first started reading I couldn't help but feel a sense of bitter disappointment. The story rejoins Maered just after she has been forced to flee Norloch across the sea to the island of Thorold with Cadavan, whilst her brother heads south ... ...again Maereds powers come to the rescue. However by now it all seems far too predictable so you are expecting Maered to come to the rescue. This sense of having seen it all before continues through much of the first half of the book, with little advancement to the general story line for a lengthy section. Don't get me wrong this part of the book still contains lots of activity, it just fails to regain the strong sense of brilliance that was so characteristic ...

Noughts and Crosses
Review of Noughts And Crosses - Malorie Blackman by
wantaratgirl
Advantages: Lots of interesting and thoughtful plots to throw you.
Disadvantages: Can get rather slow in the middle.
I have rated this book 4/5 star. It is a deep and meaningful book all about apartheid. It is a reverse of the British apartheid in South Africa, as Sephy and Callum (main characters) live in a world where white people are second best and black people are rich and powerful. This is a very compelling book. It is not to be read if you are looking something light and cheerful. I would recommend this book to anyone in their teens to adults as it is not ...
