a fantastic twist on a traditional fairy tale
Review of Seriously Silly Stories Collection - Laurence Anholt by deeleybopper

Advantages: witty, laugh out loud, loved by children
Disadvantages: wish they were colour pictures

If you want a great story or set of stories to read, to children 6 and above, then I can highly recommend these books. fabulously written by Laurence Anholt, these stories take well known and loved fairy tales, and twist them on their head, giving a great contemporary twist. and they are great value for money - very affordable with pocket money. for example...in Little Red Riding Wolf, the villan of the story is NOT the wolf, but its the big bad ...
...animals of the forest, and she loves nothing better than picking on our hero - Wolfie...or as the author calls him "cutesy wolfie cub!" my class of 6 and 7 year olds absolutely howled and roared with this story, and let out an almighty cheer when the hero of the story changes the big bad girlie for the better. and the hat the wolf wears had me in hysterics too! Review of So Much - Trish Cooke by anwar

Advantages: Great fun to read
Disadvantages: none

I first came across so much when it was read on children’s T.V .I remember sitting on my bed with my small son next to me and we were both enthralled by this simple, but very different story. The story begins with mum and the baby at home,” They weren’t doing anything, mum and the baby, nothing really, then, DING ...
...Auntie Bibba loves the baby so much she wants to squeeze him. The book continues with more and more relations and friends arriving, all wanting to show their love for the baby in different ways. Cousin KAY-KAY arrives in trendy gear complete with baseball cap. He shows his love for the baby by wanting to play fight him! Hey,pow, pow! I want to fight him, I want to fight him SO MUCH! The illustration clearly shows both cousin KAY-KAY and the baby laughing ... Read review

Shark attack!
Review of Sharks (Lift - the-flap) - Peter Scott by danielalong

Advantages: Age appropriate amount of information
Disadvantages: None

Pop up sharks Sharks seem to be something which fascinate young children , and recently Little Miss has been a tad obsessed with dinosaurs, so we bought this. The link? She read somewhere that when dinosaurs died out some of the sea creatures who could live in very cold waters lived, and started asking me questions about marine life. Not being an expert, something had to be done. I have always liked usborne books, and this was simple enough for ...
...and life. These are: About Sharks (naturally enough); Hungry Hunters; Baby sharks; Whale sharks; Hammerheads; Speedy sharks; Strange sharks. Each section is “set” in the ocean, with blue background, and the sharks and other sea creatures and plant life being part of the background. Any information is given in small bite size pie
