Review of The Mousehole Cat - Antonia Barber by tange

Advantages: A wonderful Children's Story; excellent narrative and captivating pictures.
Disadvantages: None at all....except I didn't want it to end!

...had been at storytime in the Library. I'd forgotten just how lovely it was ~ a charming story with stunning illustrations! What is this marvellous children's book? ~ The Mousehole Cat written by Antonia Barber and illustrated by Nicola Bayley of course! ~~~THE AWARDS. It's not just me and my friend's class who loved this book! It was written in 1990 and went on to win the British Book Award in the Illustrated Children's Book of the Year category. ...

Oh It Could Have Been Much Worse!
Review of It Could Have Been Worse - A.H. Benjamin, Tim Warnes by missy0303

Advantages: A great storybook for children!
Disadvantages: None!

It Could Have Been Worse by A H Benjamin It could have been worse is a tale of a little mouse who is trying to make his way home from his town cousins house…………on his way he encounters a lot of mishaps, I won't give all of the story away but here is an idea of the kind of things that happens to him along the way… He climbs over a thorny bush and loses his balance and falls to the ground….unknown to him though, a big evil looking grey cat is behind ...
...and the narrator says "But it could have been worse" Does mouse survive all of the accidents or does he get pounced upon? Hmmm well you'll need to read it to see….but bear in mind this is a children's book hehe. The pictures illustrate perfectly what is about to happen, and when reading this to my own daughter for the first time she was shouting out look behind you! And indeed when I read it to a class full of 5 year olds they done the same thing….This ... Read review

The champ

Disadvantages: none

Willy the Champ I have always enjoyed Anthony Browne picture books, not only because of the story line but also the illustrations which have lots and lots of detail, and which are often quite humorous. This story is a sequel to Willy the Wimp, and is a great one to read to children who are maybe going through self esteem issues. **Story and Illustrations** We meet Willy (if you didn't meet him in Willy the Wimp) lying on a brightly decorated ...
...and flying on the wall. Willy looks very thoughtful and we find out why…he doesn't seem to "be any good at anything". There are some great pictures of him reading and listening to music (which he enjoys) and taking a walk in the park with his friend Millie. Children will love the detail in this picture- there is Santa Claus kicking a Christmas cake, a man taking a banana for a walk, a gorilla swinging Tarzan style through the trees. They will notice ...
