A greatly amusing book for children and parents!!
Review of Rumble In The Jungle - David Wojtowycz, Giles Andreae by Ciciu

Advantages: Wonderful rhymes, lovely pictures.
Disadvantages: Leaves other books to gather dust.

An absolute favourite, but not just for children for parents too! My 3 year old loves it so much that we read it almost every night. Fortunately, unlike some childrens books I don't get fed up of reading this over and over. THE STORY Wonderfully written, funny rhymes perfectly worded for little ones. Describing the most popular jungle animals. The giraffe, chimpanzee, gorilla, elephant, lion, tiger and more. Animals are always a great inerest to ...
...great way for children to learn. The lion's the king of the jungle Just listen how loudly he roars Every animal quivers And shudders, and shivers As soon as he opens his jaws THE ILLUSTRATIONS The pictures in this book are fantastic, which is very important for childrens books. When my son was less than a year old I took him to Waterstones to get some childrens books. I was having a browse when all of a sudden he started laughing. He wasn't ... Read review

There's a baby on the way
Review of There's a House Inside My Mummy - Giles Andreae & Vanessa Cabban by Keelar

Advantages: Good rhyming text, good illustrations
Disadvantages: Not for a child too young

...things, for example - '…because there's not a bed, there's a sort of giant bathtub where the baby sleeps instead…' and my favourite phrase in the book is 'Mummy's tummy house'. It just goes through the different side effects of pregnancy such as mummy feeling sick, tired, falling asleep, talking to baby through the 'tummy telephone', until eventually he gets his lovely little brother and that's where the story concludes. The illustrations are really ...
...dressed, as I presume Mummy is too tired, Mummy raiding the fridge, Mummy asleep on the sofa - all the scenarios you would expect from a pregnant Mother which I think is really good for children to see and especially if their Mother is doing all of these weird & unexplainable things, at least they can relate to something in the book and it maybe helps them have more of an understanding of the situation. However, I think my daughter is a bit too ... Read review

Not just a book.
Review of The Jolly Postman - Allan Ahlberg by leilla

Advantages: This takes you on a fantastic journey through fairytale land -its not just a book!
Disadvantages: It is impossible for a child to share this - buy them one each!

...this clever story. It is the tale of the jolly postman who delivers mail to familiar fairy tale characters. Theres a birthday card for baby bear (of the three bears), a letter to the big bad wolf from the three little pigs, a postcard to the giant from Jack (from the beanstalk)- there is even a story within the story (a tiny story about cinderella). The amount of detail placed in each envelope is amazing and I still find something new each time I ... Read review

Where's Your Ball Gone Duck?
Review of Hit The Ball Duck - Jez Alborough by belfin

Advantages: clever rhymes along with fantastic pictures
Disadvantages: none

***The Background*** Jez Alborough is a master at not only writing, but also illustrating children's books. His clever but simple rhymes enthral children and his funny drawings keep them laughing as the story is told. He has published over 30 books to date with both Walker Books and Harper Collins, who delight us with this popular Duck series. His books are published in not only hardback form like this one, but in paperback and boardbooks too. ...
...***The Story*** The little rhyme on the inside of the book goes like this, "Duck and friends go out one day with a bat, a ball and a glove to play. Duck hits the ball but where does it fall? On a branch in the tree - now they can't play at all. Frog has an idea, Duck lends a hand but nothing turns out quite as planned. The story starts as we see Duck and friends driving their way to the park and when they arrive Duck can't wait to start playing ... Read review

Burglar Bill
Review of Burglar Bill - Allan Ahlberg, Janet Ahlberg by AJ26

Advantages: Nice Pictures, Happy Ending, Story with a moral
Disadvantages: Some children might be afraid of Burglars.

Burglar Bill is a paperback childrens book written by Janet and Allan Ahlberg it is aimed at children from around 4 upwards. It is short enough that you could read it all to a 4 year old but would also appeal to older children who could read it themselves. Authors Its written and illustrated by the same people who wrote the Jolly Postman, Each Peach, Pear Plum and Peepo. These are all very popular childrens books and this is no exception. ...
...Bill is a burglar living in his house eating his "stolen fish and chips" with a "cup of stolen tea" and going off to work stealing things then comes home for a "stolen breakfast" then goes to sleep in his "stolen bed". We follow Bill while he is at work where among the many things he steals is a big brown box. Later that morning he hears a noise which sounds like a police car, it gets louder and louder until he realises that it's a baby which is ... Read review
