Let's Scream and Pull Funny Faces
Review of Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball - Vicki Churchill, Charles Fuge by
denella
Advantages: Beautiful and humorous picture book
Disadvantages: It ends so quickly...
Sometimes I Like to Curl up in a Ball is the tale of Little Wombat and the things he enjoys doing. He knows, for example, that when he curls up in a ball no-one can see him. Yet he doesn't always want to be so inconspicuous: he also takes pleasure in jumping high in the air and seeing how much noise he can make on landing, disturbing a mole as he does so. Other activities he delights in include screaming, running, pulling funny faces, and getting ... ...both story and illustrations, it is a beautiful book to own. Sometimes I Like to Curl up in a Ball

Come on - give us a stroke!
Review of Stroke Henry! - Rod Campbell by
ashmead
Advantages: Great early reader; lots of textures and interaction.
Disadvantages: Not suitable as second hand buy due to uncleanability!
........all will become clear!
Stroke Henry: format
In Rod Campbell's typical manner, the illustrations in this book use bold colours (great for the development of visual discernment and attention grabbing). The pictures are not too detailed but do contain talking points and sufficient elements for a young child to enjoy gazing at (great for that long car journey!).
The main selling point of this book, however, is the built in textures. On the face ... ...story teller somewhat adrift!!
Stroke Henry, however, uses a familiar every day story setting of a mischievous puppy and takes him through every day places to let him tug at washing and squeeze through narrow gaps in a rough fence! The familiar territory means that story discussion can continue long after the book itself has been read as your little one spots something out and about that is "Just like Henry Book"!
Henry Durability
As I have already ...

uncle Diddi rocks!
Review of So Much - Trish Cooke by
anwar
Advantages: Great fun to read
Disadvantages: none
I first came across so much when it was read on children’s T.V .I remember sitting on my bed with my small son next to me and we were both enthralled by this simple, but very different story. I liked it so much, that I went out and bought a copy. The Story
So much is a story that captures Afro-Caribbean home life perfectly. The story begins with mum and the baby at home,” They weren’t doing anything, mum and the baby, nothing really, then, DING ... ...Auntie Bibba loves the baby so much she wants to squeeze him. The book continues with more and more relations and friends arriving, all wanting to show their love for the baby in different ways. Cousin KAY-KAY arrives in trendy gear complete with baseball cap. He shows his love for the baby by wanting to play fight him! Hey,pow, pow! I want to fight him, I want to fight him SO MUCH! The illustration clearly shows both cousin KAY-KAY and the baby laughing ...

*Jump We're Falling, Stay We're Drowning*
Review of Sink or Swim - Kate Cann by
angiebabyqueen
Advantages: A fab summer read for older teenagers
Disadvantages: You just want to read the follow ons without stopping
Having just finished reading the other two books in this series, and having read this book once before, before reading the other two, I thought that I would re-read it and review it for you. This is a book designed for older reader's and mainly suited to girl's who have read the other two in the series. Both I and my best friend can relate to issues found within the series, and I recommend reading Diving In and In the deep end before you read this ... ...Cann wanted to be a witch up until the age of thirteen when she started writing diaries, which parts of have been used in the diving in trilogy; the second book in the series. Kate never thought that she would become an author, but enjoyed writing and books, and so carried that on in later life, studying and achieving two degrees in English. She started work in a book publishing company after university and after she had two children, she became ...
