Well Worth The Money
Review of Flyte (Septimus Heap) - Angie Sage by
Marley123456
Advantages: Gripping Story Line
Disadvantages: Cant Put It Down!
Flyte is another one of the amazing books written by Angie Sage. This spellbinding book is Book two of the Septimus Heap chronicles. This Book lives up to all of my expectations. In this story Septimus is the apprentice to the Extraordinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand. Jenna, the Princess is one of his best friends. Marcia is having problems with a Darke Shadow that follows her around everywhere. She has to build a special cabinet in order to capture ... ...recruits the help of Professor Van Klampff but he can only build a piece at a time very slowly. Marcia is very frustrated by this but what can she do.
Then Jenna is kidnapped by none other than Septimus' older brother Simon. Jenna can't believe that Simon kidnapped her and all because of jealousy because he felt he should be the apprentice. How can Septimus get Jenna back and how can Jenna get away from Simon? The problem is nobody believes that ...

Nod Your Head And Make Your Bell Ring
Review of Favourite Stories (Make Way for Noddy) - Enid Blyton, Chorion CGI by
belfin
Advantages: Goes well with the show
Disadvantages: Not the same appeal for me as the old Noddy books
***Background***
Noddy was originally created by Enid Blyton, who also gave us classics like The Famous Five, The Secret Seven and all those Tales Before Bedtime. She created a variety of books for children of all ages and I must admit to being a bit of an addict of her books when I was growing up.
These days Noddy has become a bit more politically correct and certain characters have had a bit of a makeover and change of name. In the old days it ... ...it is the Goblins. I understand the need for the change in today's society, although I have to say that I didn't grow up associating this toy with people of a different ethnic background.
Make Way For Noddy has become a household name with his adventures being shown daily on Channel 5's Milkshake program for younger children. ***The Book***
This book has 5 stories in it. Each one has a moral in the tale and usually shows how Noddy learns the importance ...

Fancy giving an Island to a 10 year old!! :)
Review of Five on a Treasure Island - Enid Blyton by
eyebright1234
Advantages: Exciting story ,easy and compelling reading, first of a long series
Disadvantages: A bit dated in its language
The famous 5 are 4 cousins, George 11 (really a tomboy named Georgina) and her 3 cousins , Julian 12, Dick 11 and Anne 10.
George has a dog she must keep in secret as he was a quite destructive puppy and is banned from her parents house , he is a brown mongrel dog and is called Timothy.
This is the first time George meets her cousins and she does not like them to begin with. She is quite happy the way her life is and doesn't want them interfering ... ...unlikely but never mind it is a story and I never questioned it when aged 11)an Island with a ruined castle and even a wrecked ship which is under the sea.
A treasure map is discovered by the children and confiscated by Georges strict father who then sells the story to the papers!!
The children must try to discover the treasure (if it exists) before the Island is sold (yes even though it was given to George) to developers who are really treasure ...

Are you a Fattypuff or Thinifer?
Review of Fattypuffs and Thinifers - Andre Maurois by
EmmaAdams
Advantages: Very amusing, different
Disadvantages: Young children may not understand or be as interested.
...that this book entitled " Fattypuffs and Thinifers" by Andre Maurois is bound to make for interesting reading. And I was completely right. I read the book and didn't really understand as I was only ickle, but I was clever enough to know that this novel was a cleverly thought up tale with some kind of message to it. Since that fateful chance finding my schools pitiful library of the novel, its title had been carefully filed away in the darkest cavern ... ..." Fattypuffs and Thinifers" is a story about two young brothers Edmund (who is fat) and Terry (who is thin) who whilst out one day with their father, stumble across an escalator hidden in some rocks which takes them to the Country Under the Earth. Once there the usually inseperable brothers are seperated by their weight and carted off on two different boats to two completely different countries under the earth.
Edmund is taken to the land of the ...

Mr Fox will thrill and amaze you!
Review of Fantastic Mr Fox - Roald Dahl by
britum2000
Advantages: Do you want to hear you 5-7 year olds ask for more?
Disadvantages: Do you want to re-visit childhood?
...told.
The story of Fantastic Mr Fox is the stuff of magic and enormous excitement for a typical 5 to 7 year old. Whether you are a parent with a book at bedtime or have the privilege of reading to a larger group, this book is a winner every time. As we shall see, it is a simple story of a hero and three villains that will have children punching the air and shouting 'Yes!' at the tops of their voices. Trust me; I have had the pleasure to witness ... ...the noble, the clever, the Fantastic Mr. Fox. Our young loyalties are defined from the start; after all, how could you cheer for a man named Bunce who eats his doughnuts stuffed with mashed goose livers? As one might expect, the farmers in this story come out smelling like ... well, what farmers occasionally do smell like.
This early Roald Dahl adventure is great for reading aloud to five to seven year olds, who will be delighted to hear that Mr. ...
