Goodnight Mr Tom - My Favourite Book
Advantages: Well Written And A Great Story Line Disadvantages: Its A Tear Jerker
Goodnight Mr Tom is a book my mum gave me when I was younger and still to this day its my favourite book and one that I never bore of reading. The book was written by Michelle Magorian and has been in circulation since 1981. I first read this book when I was 12 but to be honest I think its one that should be viewed by parents before allowing their child to read it as it does contain some uncomfortable but powerful reading. The book tells the story ... ...central London to the country where he is boarded with a older widowed male called Tom Oakley. As time goes by and the two begin to build a close friendship and trust it becomes clear to Tom that Willie has had a hard life and faced with severe abuse both physically and mentally from his mother. Just when things look like they life is eventually going well for William his mother requests that he is returned. William has to leave his friends and Tom, ...

...on a wonderful book named Guess How Much I Love You. This is specifically the Jigsaw Puzzle Book.
I discovered this book a few years ago at a christening in Pontefract. It was a fairly low key service conducted by the most odd female vicar. As part of her service, she read a story to the children present in the room. That story was Guess How Much I Love You. Since that day, we have been in love with this particular book and never tire of it.
Guess ... ...most definately best known for Guess How Much I Love You and it was this very book that was shortlisted for the 1994 Kurt Maschler award. It is one of the worlds best ever selling picture books.

Gruesome Groosham Grange!
Advantages: Excellent Characters, storyline and descriptions Disadvantages: It's difficult to put down!
This book is a must read for all children, but not when they are too young! But be warned, once they start reading they'll be hooked!
I first read this book at the age of ten and instantly prompted my sister to do the same. My sister has never really been one for reading, until she read this, now she can't stop! This book has one of those great storylines which although you know it's been made up, does seem in places possible. O.K, so maybe the ... ...running over the mother, but it had me laughing for days!
In this book, we follow a young boy, David who has been expelled from his super posh boarding school to a new school for which the prospectus mysteriously arrives. His parents, desperate to get rid of him instantly decide it is the school for him and he is packed off straight away. Girl, Missing by Sophie McKenzie
I like to read and every year at Christmas I always seem to get given a ton of books. I got given this particular book for christmas a couple of years ago by my mum, who was at that time a fan of Richard and Judy, so no surprise she had got me 'Richard and Judy's children's books winner'!
When I first saw this on it, because I'm not one of their fans, I thought it probably wouldn't be that good. But actually ... ...down!
The book hasn't only won in the Richard and Judy competition, it has also won 'Red House Book Award for Older Readers' and 'Bolton Book Award'.
What happens in the book?
I'm not going to give too much away and ruin the story for people who might decide to read this one day, but it is basically about a girl called Lauren who is adopted, and when she has to write about who she is for school homework she starts to become eager to know ...
