Handa's Surprise - A Book With Fabulous Illustrations and Humour
Advantages: Good story, great use of colour Disadvantages: None
Handa's Surprise I was working in the school library, when I stumbled across this book - it brought back memories of when I used to read it both to my own children and also the children in my class. What is it all about? This is a beautifully illustrated picture book published by Walker Books. It starts with a foreword that says " The children featured in this book are from the Luo tribe of South West Kenya. It tells the tale of Handa. She ... ...her she carries 7 fruits which she thinks Akeyo may like. Now the journey is long way and she carries the fruit on her head in a basket. Along the way she passes many animals, who help themselves to the fruit out of her basket and it looks as if she will have nothing by the time she arrives to see her friend. However, all is not lost and something surprising happens to mean that she does not arrive empty handed. Opinion This is a beautiful ...

Henrys big bad/fab book review!
Advantages: Another compilation of fantastic stories, and much more! Disadvantages: None.
As documented in my last Horrid Henry book review, we really like him in our house, though am glad my youngest Connor has grown out of wanting to be Henry when he gets older, that wasn’t a pleasant couple of months I can tell you!
Horrid Henry, for the people who have never heard of him, is an obnoxious 10 year old boy, he is only happy when he is getting the upper hand with people, causing trouble, giving his parents grief, bullying his younger ... ...Lol!
Alongside the numerous Horrid Henry books that my daughter owns, she has also quite a number of rehashed editions, these are in a nutshell so-called “favourites” that get re-printed into a book, a compilation if you will.
The main difference with these books is they are all in colour, many of the older books are all black and white with pictures being decipherable but somewhat scribbly!
The book I will now review is - “Horrid Henry’s big ...

Scratch, Scratch
Advantages: Humorous throughout Disadvantages: NONE
Horrid Henry, his brother Perfect Peter and his rabble of friends that includes Moody Margaret and Rude Ralph are currently the subject of 17 books written for children aged between 6 and 11. The author of these books is Francesca Simon and each book is based around the antics of Horrid Henry. As his name suggests Henry is a horrid child and so are many of his friends whereas his brother Peter is perfect. This leads Henry's mum and dad to wish that ... ...be no story. Horrid Henry' Nits is book number 4 and was published in 1996. The book contains four stories entitled, Horrid Henry's Nits, Horrid Henry and the Fangmangler Horrid Henry's School Trip and Horrid Henry and the Dinner Guests. Each story is roughly 20 pages in length and so is more than manageable for children. The stories are also interspersed with some fabulous illustrations by Tony Ross, which grab and hold children's attention as well ...

...releasing the first film , How to Train your Dragon in 2009.
***About the author***
As a relatively new addition to the world of successful Children's books authors, there isn't a lot known about Cowell.
Before establishing herself as a highly successful author, Cressida worked as an illustrator and was short-listed for the Macmillan Prize for Illustration, and indeed, she provides the limited illustrations throughout this book as well as doing ... ...other Hiccup the Horrendous Books, How to Train your Dragon and How to be a Pirate

The Hiccup Horrendous the Third series was inspired by memories of family holidays Cowell took with her father, sister and brother to a tiny island in the Inner Hebrides. Harry Potter book 6
Advantages: Great Storyline Disadvantages: The book ends
...it down...except to sleep!
Harry is starting his sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and has found an old used book in potions which its previous owner wrote extra instructions and new spells in. He starts to beat Hermione in Potions tests and this really annoys her as she is supposed to be the most intelligent witch of her age!
The spells written in the book actually work as one day Harry gets angry and tries it on malfoy!
