A horrid/fantastic childrens joke book!

Advantages: A fun book that involves great jokes, and all the characters from the series.
Disadvantages: Some of Henry's joke are rude!

...listen to the hundreds of Horrid Henry books we seem to have accumulated, but my daughter is! After reading just about every one we own, Kaitlin comes home from school like a panting dog, saying that through the schools book club there was a new Horrid Henry book we had yet to buy, this time not a storybook but a joke book. The book I will now review is - “Horrid Henry’s jolly joke book” The book and characters enclosed were the brain child of ...
...with a short insert from Horrid Henry stating that all his classmates are “a bunch of copycats”, with the premise of the book being written due to the fact that Henry’s teacher, Miss Battle-axe, had set a class competition, that whoever entered the best joke would receive a “really, really great prize”, he then goes onto slag off his arch nemesis “Moody Margaret” from next door, then finally has fight with his younger brother “Perfect Peter”, or ...

Scratch, Scratch

Advantages: Humorous throughout
Disadvantages: NONE

Horrid Henry, his brother Perfect Peter and his rabble of friends that includes Moody Margaret and Rude Ralph are currently the subject of 17 books written for children aged between 6 and 11. The author of these books is Francesca Simon and each book is based around the antics of Horrid Henry. As his name suggests Henry is a horrid child and so are many of his friends whereas his brother Peter is perfect. This leads Henry's mum and dad to wish that ...
...be no story. Horrid Henry' Nits is book number 4 and was published in 1996. The book contains four stories entitled, Horrid Henry's Nits, Horrid Henry and the Fangmangler Horrid Henry's School Trip and Horrid Henry and the Dinner Guests. Each story is roughly 20 pages in length and so is more than manageable for children. The stories are also interspersed with some fabulous illustrations by Tony Ross, which grab and hold children's attention as well ...

This is something good to hear in the playground

Advantages: A good introduction to poetry for children
Disadvantages: None

HEARD IT IN THE PLAYGROUND ALLAN AHLBERG I think that I can confidently say that everyone reading this review will know of some of Ahlberg's work, even if they don't know it. If I say 'Funnybones' and 'The Jolly Postman' I'm sure that your memories will be tweaked, and these are just two of Ahlberg's characters from the 130 children’s books he has written. His books have also been made into popular television programmes like ‘Woof’ ...
...Croydon in 1938, but grew up in near Birmingham. From the age of twelve, his dream was to be a writer. Before he actually made it to be writer at a variety of other jobs including postman, gravedigger, plumber's mate and teacher. His work as a teacher is probably what gives him such insight into the minds of young children and makes his books the success that they are. ‘Heard it in the Playground’ is a book aimed at children aged around 7 – 11 ...

The rising star of Oliver Jeffers!

Advantages: Beautiful, original and amazing artwork
Disadvantages: None what-so-ever!

...I bought, my favourite is How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers. ***Who is Oliver Jeffers?*** Oliver Jeffers, born in Western Australia but brought up in Belfast is a talented Artist, Designer, Illustrator and Writer - apparently he can play the spoons too! He studied and earned his first-class honours degree in Illustration and Visual Communication at University of Ulster. As an artist he has enjoyed a great deal of success even seeing 16 paintings ...
...career in Children's books with How to Catch a Star being published in 2004. Amazingly, his debut as a children's picture book writer and illustrator saw him short-llisted for the Booktrust Early Years Award for Best new Illustrator. It also went on to win a Merit Award at the CBI/Bisto Book of the Year Awards. Jeffers follow-up, Lost and Found received similar admiration and critical acclaim winning the Gold Award at Nestle Children's Book Prize ...

Henrys big bad/fab book review!

Advantages: Another compilation of fantastic stories, and much more!
Disadvantages: None.

As documented in my last Horrid Henry book review, we really like him in our house, though am glad my youngest Connor has grown out of wanting to be Henry when he gets older, that wasn’t a pleasant couple of months I can tell you! Horrid Henry, for the people who have never heard of him, is an obnoxious 10 year old boy, he is only happy when he is getting the upper hand with people, causing trouble, giving his parents grief, bullying his younger ...
...Lol! Alongside the numerous Horrid Henry books that my daughter owns, she has also quite a number of rehashed editions, these are in a nutshell so-called “favourites” that get re-printed into a book, a compilation if you will. The main difference with these books is they are all in colour, many of the older books are all black and white with pictures being decipherable but somewhat scribbly! The book I will now review is - “Horrid Henry’s big ...
