Review of Silverfin: A James Bond Adventure (Young Bond) - Charlie Higson by rowbot23

Advantages: Everything is brilliant!
Disadvantages: You can't put the book down

This book is written by Charlie Higson who also writes screenplays and adult thriller novels, as well as a performer and co-creator of the fast show. Using the idea of Ian Flemings Books about a spy called "Bond. James Bond" he has created a fantastic book about James bond when he was younger and not a spy. Before the name became a legend. Before the boy became the man. Meet Bond. James Bond. The book has 372 pages full of excitement and thrills ...
...in the Scottish Highlands, James Bond is back at Eton, where he has joined the risk-taking Danger Society. Summer vacation is on the horizon and James is looking forward to the school trip to the beautiful Italian island of Sardinia, and the opportunity to spend some time with his reclusive cousin Victor. But all is not as it appears. James soon discovers that the seemingly peaceful island harbors some strange secrets. Before long, Victor's house ... Read review

eldest review
Review of Eldest - Christopher Paolini by 4rfvgyhnjik

Advantages: brilliant book
Disadvantages: long

Eldest opens with Eragon looking upon the battlefield of Tronjheim. It has been three days since the battle has been won, three days since Eragon killed the Shade Durza. But the mood is bleak, there is no rejoicing over the victory. The stronghold of the dwarves and the Varden - Farthen Dur is littered with bodies. So many have been killed and the battlefield is so wet with blood that it soaks through the soles of Eragon's boots. The battle is over ...
...While Eragon was essentially simplistic, Eldest is layered with other themes and multiple narratives. The writer also shows his skill in holding all of them together and blending them in the end for the climax. Nasuada, with Eragon's support, takes her father's place leading the Varden. She decides to send Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, to Ellesméra where the elves will train them further in the arts of magic and war so that he can eventually be ... Read review

Flying Penguins!
Review of Hello, This is Your Penguin Speaking - Rodney Rigby by sewbizzie

Advantages: Good fun book
Disadvantages: None

Hello, this is your Penguin speaking is a fun little hard back book which we bought for our eldest son as he likes penguins. The cover of the book is nice and bright and has lots of penguins all doing funny things and the title in white bubble in black writing. The back cover of the book shows a picture of space with penguins in space helmets and aliens and rockets in the sky. Upon opening the book there are lots of small pictures with writing ...
...pictures are objects featured in the story. The story starts with penguin reading his favourite book and wishing that he could fly. He thought that if he could fly he would be able to carry passengers. He says he would call himself Penguin Air Tours and starts running around making a vroom noise. Penguin saw that airplanes have big wings just like him and that they also have wheels which are a bit like his feet. He became very excited and started ... Read review

What did he realy see on Mulberry Street?
Review of And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street - Dr. Seuss by sewbizzie

Advantages: Great Dr Seuss Book
Disadvantages: None

...write fun books for children and this one is no exception. And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street is a great book which my eldest is loving at the minute. The cover of the book is bright yellow with a picture of a man in a carriage riding on top of a blue elephant and the title above this in blue and red lettering. There is also the much recognised red and white stripped banner down the left hand side. The back cover of the book is green with ...
...to keep his eyelids up and to see what he can see. Marco says that whenever he tells his father what he did see his father tells him that his eyesight is much too keen and he should stop telling such outlandish tales. What was Marco going to tell his Dad about his journey today, all the way to school and back he looked hard and kept a careful track but all he could see on Mulberry street was a horse and a wagon. He says it was nothing to tell of ... Read review

Prince What a Mess goes camping
Review of What a Mess Goes Camping - Frank Muir by sewbizzie

Advantages: Very fun book
Disadvantages: Hard to buy

What a Mess is a television series from the early 70's (so my husband had told me!) and was written by Frank Muir. A few books were released from the show and this one is What a Mess goes Camping. What a mess is a scruffy Afghan hound who always ends up in trouble no matter how hard he tries to be good. The book starts with What a Mess' mother asking him why he is wearing a dirty and silly colander on his head. What a mess tells his mother that it ...
...food out of his hair. What a Mess pleads to his mother to let him keep it to wear on special occasions, like when he is chasing the postman but she says no and he must return it at once and be good as there is a special treat planned for the weekend so he has to be good. What a Mess is delighted when he finds out the weekend treat is a camping holiday, he asks if he can take his friends with him. He has been told that as he has been very good for ... Read review
