Hope the monster doesn't come to get me!
Advantages: Tries to teach children not to be scared of monsters. Interesting vocabulary used. Disadvantages: Some children find the monster quite scary.
...but a few!
~ I'm Coming to Get You ~
'Deep in another galaxy, a spaceship rushed towards a tiny, peaceful planet...............'
In that spaceship is a 'loathsome' monster who howls "I'M COMING TO GET YOU!"
He crushes all of the banana people and causes huge destruction, finally eating the whole planet except for the hot inner core.
And off he goes to try and find the planet called Earth.
Meanwhile on Earth, a little boy, Tommy, who didn't ... ...monsters one little bit.
I'm probably going to offend someone now but I really have found that this does appeal to boys more, that's not a random statement it's just based on what I have seen in the classroom. That isn't to say that girls don't like it! ~ Price ~
My Puffin paperback ISBN: 0-14-050488-5 cost £1.95 which just shows how long ago I bought it.
Amazon are selling paperbacks for £3.75 but watch out for the postal charges.
It's also ...

Great for 'In the night garden' fans.
Advantages: There pocket size and have all the favourite characters on them. Disadvantages: The pictures are slightly dark.
...The six books come in a small cardboard case which has a picture of one of the main characters Iggle Piggle on the front. The books have 8 pages not including the front and back page and are like small board books so they don't rip easily. Each book tells you about a different character from the programme and says what they like doing or little phrases they say. On the front of the books it has a picture of the character and each book is different ... ...negative thing is the pictures in the book are quite dark you can make out the characters but being a bit brighter would have been better. Another good thing about the books is when you turn over the books you will see if you lay them down in order it will make a picture of all the characters together. I think this makes it fun for your child and they will enjoy trying to put them together. The books are pocket size which I think is ideal as when ...

The little Tiger who did not want to have a bath!
Advantages: lots of animals, lovely illustrations Disadvantages: could send out the wrong message to young children
Whilst in Tescos this week I was in the book section when I spotted this book, my son already has Dora`s Chicks which he really likes so I knew this book would go down a treat and for £2.49 I thought it was good value. I don`t want to have a bath! This is a hardback book with paper pages, on the cover is a picture of mummy tiger and her baby who is clinging onto a branch as he does not want to get wet. Little Tiger loves to play games and somehow ... ...book are really great and I love the detail of each of the animals, it really brings the book to life and pictures tell a story of their own which is good as my son is able to tell his own story. What do I think? Everyone who knows my son knows how much he hates having a wash or a bath! So I thought this book would be a good way of persuading him that bath time can be fun. My big concern about the book is the fact that the tiger goes off on his ...

INKHEART by Cornelia Funke (2003)
Advantages: Vivid worlds, characters and storyline created to entice the reader. Disadvantages: Too long at times, too many characters to digest.
...he was taken out of Inkheart unintentionally by Mo.

Dustfinger = A fire-eater and a man with a good heart deep down. Dustfinger was taken out of Inkheart at the same time Capricorn. Unlike Capricorn he has a strong urge to go back to the land of Inkheart. He even betrays his friends to re-enter the book.
Elinor = Meggie's great ... ...Fenoglio = The author of Inkheart in the story.

Resa = Meggie's mother, short for Theresa. Dustfinger has a liking for her due to her beauty, even though he has a wife back in the Inkworld.

Incarceron: an inventive and original fantasy novel
Advantages: Original, great characters. Disadvantages: None.
Incarceron is a prison. It was built to be a utopia, where prisoners could live in peace and tranquility, a place where even the most evil could be reformed. But something went wrong, and the prison has come alive, and turned evil itself. 'Outside' is only a legend, and escape is almost unheard of. And Outside, advanced technology is used to keep people living in the past. Protocol is all-important, and despite better conditions, there is no more ... ...of the most inventive and original fantasy worlds I've read about in a long time. The books are scattered with references to myths and fairy tales. The suspense remains high throughout the book, and I couldn't put it down. The plot twists and turns, with plenty of 'wow' moments.
The plot revolves around Finn and Claudia. Finn is trapped inside Incarceron, but his mysterious seizures and visions make him believe he comes from Outside. Claudia, daughter ...
