Cat Mummy
Review of The Cat Mummy - Jacqueline Wilson by snow_queen

Advantages: Amusing
Disadvantages: Admitedly, not one of Wilsons best

...cat for being sick on the floor. Verity decides that she should not bury the cat because she would not like her cat to have her head in the ground with all the worms, so hs decides to mummify her cat so that they can stay together for ever and ever. But, unfortunately her gran does not like bad hygine, and so Verity has to do everything on her own. She finds it very tough, and when the cat starts to smell bad hidden in her wardrobe, she has to throw ...
...More than a story about the death of a cat, this is the story of a young girl over coming her fears of death left after her mother passes away, and is a truly touching book for 8-10yr olds. It is this coming to terms with death that makes the book worthwile, and the hidden messages about death not being an ending can prove very comforting to someone dealing with the death of a loved one. To me, this story didn't hold much significance, but just by ... Read review

Tattoed from head to toe
Review of Illustrated Mum - Jacqueline Wilson by fashionista27

Advantages: It shows the extraordinary circumstances some children have to deal with
Disadvantages: -

...In the book The Illustrated Mum, Star and Dolphin have to live with their mum's "wierd moments". Their mum (Marigold) is covered from head to toe in tatoos, which Dolphin loves. She thinks her mum is the brightest, most beautiful mother in the world, but her half-sister Star hates all the tatoos and wishes she would have them removed. Star sometimes can't help wishing that their mum was more normal. One day, when Star is introduced to her father ...
...to put down, and it leaves you wanting to know more at the end of every chapter. The Illustrated Mum was a pleasure to read, and I would definately read it again. Jaqueline Wilson is an excellent author and I would highly recommend her books. Thanks for reading =D ... Read review

Best Friends
Review of Best Friends - Jacqueline Wilson by Bestestfriends

Advantages: A very funny book, getting children in hysterics
Disadvantages: Nothing to be displayed!

Personally, i love the book Best friends.I always play Gemma and Alice with my best friend and we always have a lovely time, Jacqueline Wilson has definately made sure that readers will enjoy it. It is fairly heartbreaking and did bring tears to my eyes. Gemma really misses Alice when she moves to Scotland, they had been together for a long time and miss each other very much.Alice is very quiet and very calm, the type of girl who would probaly enjoy ...
...on they are best friends forever in their hearts, but make other friends too. Like Alice made friends with a girl who likes to show - off alot called Flora, and Gemma made close friends with Billy McVitie, otherwise known as Biscuits. They surely will have a happy ever after. ... Read review

...and bad. As they face the difficulty of moving house that they think will be better for them and the new baby's they get there they realise the picture they were shown were taken a few years back and the house is no longer in good condition. There's Martine, Jude, Rochelle and Dixie. Four girls, four different fathers. But only Mum lives at home with the girls. So that makes five Diamond girls. Take A Good Look by Jaqueline Wilson
Review of Take A Good Look - Jacqueline Wilson by kiaza

Advantages: an easy to follow story for younger readers
Disadvantages: weak storyline and characters

Let me start off by saying that I was very let down by this one . As a big fan of Jacqueline Wilson, I was particularly dissapointed with this book which, compared to other and more successful books by the bestselling author, deserves no more than 4 out of 10 for readability, storyline and characters. It's hard to relate to, and easy to put down. For younger readers, and written in the 2nd person, this story is about a poor sighted nine year old ...
...prove her independence by sneaking off to the corner shop for sweets, and show that she really is grown up enough to walk the simple 5 minute trip by herself. But things don't quite go as simply as she thought when she is kidnapped by scary knife - wielding robbers and kept prisoner in a grubby basement . . . . . . Overall, (though I may be being harsh, as I am comparing this book to the usually excellent standard of Jacqueline Wilson 's stories) ... Read review
