Forgetfulness Advantages: Lovely story with good rhythm and illustrations. Mog belongs to ... ...Mog forgets whether cats can fly or not and whether she has had her supper and that cats have milk for breakfast so sometimes she jumps on the table and begins to eat the boiled egg much to the horror of the very refined family! The family always tend to say "Bother that cat!" as her antics due to her forgetfulness get worse and worse. Magnetic Magic! Advantages: Good chunky magnets, entertaining, loads of fun Disadvantages: None! ...presents for a while! My Fireman Sam Magnet Book is a relatively new book in the Fireman Sam franchise made for toddlers and older children. This book is a lovely hardback, with its top half in bright red, just like the Fire Engine Jupiter, with a big picture of Fireman Sam and Jupiter on the bottom half of the book. It's lovely and bright, really eye-catching and very inviting for children. My first impressions of the book were really good and ... ...and child-friendly as well! My only complaint about the book would be the size of the drawer. When you first get the book, all the pieces are sat in nicely, but obviously they all need to come out. The problem came when I tried to get them back in again and they wouldn't lay flat properly so I had to almost force the drawer shut. One Small Step for Bob! Advantages: Cheerful, bright and bold illustrations. Disadvantages: Some of the jokes are more for the adults than the kids! ...am in love with a man other than my husband! It’s not as bad as it sounds, because the OTHER man in my life is purely fictional. His name is Bob and he is the subject of an excellent picture book for younger readers called Man on the Moon: A Day in the Life of Bob. It is written and illustrated by Simon Bartram (who also provided pictures for books such as Pumpkin Moon, A Christmas Wish and Night and the Candlemaker). ~~~THE PLOT. Man on the Moon, ... ...in the life of a man called Bob. Bob is an astronaut and also works as a kind of caretaker on the moon. This book follows him from when he gets up and goes through his daily routine ~ he has breakfast, gets on his bike, cycles to the launch pad, takes his rocket to the moon, clears up ready for visitors and gives talks and sells souvenirs. Facts of life in an (egg) shell Advantages: Factual and amusing Disadvantages: none obvious ...the drawings of the ways mummy and daddy "fit together\|"...on a spacehopper, a skjateboard, involved in circus tricks. They then describe the Great Egg Race and how the winner (GOTCHA!) starts a very small baby which grows and grows until out pops the baby "Hello mummy" The end of the book shows the children looking delighted with themselves and telling their parents "So now you know and so does everybody else"...this as they let in lots of animals. ... ...the hard back version which has stood the test ot time and lots of readings at home and school. It cost £7.99 in 1996 but I have looked on various sites and it can be bought 2nd hand from £1 (plus p and p) I would use this for children from about 7. He has only one boot... Advantages: Great illustrations Disadvantages: Rather short ...focus of children's poetry, but Mister Magnolia by Quentin Blake is the story of a poor man who had only one boot: 'He has green parakeets who pick holes in his suit - And some very fat owls who are learning to hoot - But Mr Magnolia has only one boot.' Mister Magnolia may sound like a sorry character, but lacking a boot doesn't seem to stop him having fun. He dances while his two sisters play the flute, takes children for a ride on his scooter, ... ...as a little girl presents Mister Magnolia with a parcel that contains another boot. It doesn't match the one he already has, but never mind, it's a boot, and Mister Magnolia is deliriously happy. It might seem like a strange story, but Quentin Blake is of course the genius behind the illustrations to Roald Dahl's books, and he has provided wonderful coloured drawings to his own story here.
