Every child should have one!
Review of The Blue Balloon - Mick Inkpen by flyingfox

Advantages: Children love it
Disadvantages: I have to keep reading it over, and over , and over.....

...love. This idea captures the immagination of children. Just think no little faces streaked with tears because the balloon just went pop. This is a lovely book, just right to read together at bedtime. The full colour drawings are so appealing, and there is only a little reading on each page. Some of the pages fold out, to a BIG round balloon, to a long thin balloon, and the very last is a big long rainbow coloured sausage shaped balloon. This is ...
...with your child. Kipper the dog is there, and he tries to attack the balloon but to no avail. It disappears and comes back square, they go out for a walk and end up in the air! Kipper found the balloon in the garden the day after a birthday party, and at the end it says if you find a soggy old balloon don't throw it away, especially as it's a blue one- as you never know.... I thought the children were getting too old for this one, but they still ... Read review

Review of The Rainbow Fish - Marcus Pfister by wife.of.a.ciao.member

Advantages: Colourful, morality tale
Disadvantages: Only ten pages, pricey

...especially fulfilling to read at the end of the day just before my children get into bed. The book centres around a rainbow fish who is very proud of his colourful, bright, shiny scales. The rainbow fish is approached by a blue fish and is asked if he can have a couple of his scales as they are gorgeous and he, too, would look grand. Without even ...
...unhappy. After several declines, the rainbow fish finds himself without playing partners or friends and approaches the wise octopus for help. The octopus, naturally, asserts that it’s the rainbow fish’s selfishness in not sharing his scales that is leading to a lack of friends. Once again the blue fish returns and this time is granted a scale. Soon more and more fish approach the rainbow fish until he himself only has one scale, but many friends ... Read review
