Thrilling plot
Review of Maximum Security: Bk. 3 (CHERUB) - Robert Muchamore by sxcmonro

Advantages: great characters and plot
Disadvantages: slightly short book could use more pages

Exellent plot and the characters were exellently created with a very good use of imagery. Really gritty and exciting plot which keeps you on the edge of your seat. I personally sat at home for a whole weekend with this book and did not get bored, I was totaly engrosed. I really reccomend this book but you must read the first and the second in the series to really understand the plot. Te audience would most probably be teenagers beacause of the encapturing ... Remember to Smile!!
Review of It's lovely when you smile - Sam McBratney by neenn

Advantages: A lovely story with fab illustrations.
Disadvantages: None

...or adult carer. ~ It's Lovely When You Smile ~ Published in 2005, this is far less well known than 'Guess How Much I Love You'. It's all about how important it is to smile and how we have so much more fun and enjoyment when we do. ( I must try to remember that on a bad day!) Little Roo wakes up feeling grumpy, he just doesn't want to play and doesn't know why. His Mum tells him that if he smiles it will cheer him up but he is having none of it! ...
...him up by playing in the leaves, hiding in his favourite hidey-hole and tickling him but none of this makes any difference. So feeling hungry, his Mum puts Roo in her pouch and bounces down towards a wide, muddy hole. In a vain attempt to cheer Roo up Mum was bouncing from side to side and wasn't looking where she was going and you can guess what happened next..... Let's just say that it made Roo smile!! ~ Illustrations ~ The book is illustrated ... Read review

A modern classic.
Review of Goodnight Mister Tom - Michelle Magorian by anaglypta

Advantages: Great story and characters
Disadvantages: No wizards, so you might have to persude non-bookish kids to read it

I bought this book for my godson as an Xmas present recently, I had been itching to do so as soon as I thought he would be able to read it. This was my absolute favourite book as a child. The storyline is set in the early years of the Second World War, and the main character is an evacuee to the countryside. This aspect of the Second World War always interests children as it is about them. The main character, William, is an abused and undernourished ...
...insane mother. He finds himself in the care of Thomas Oakley, a retired country man who has led a secluded and reclusive life since his wife and son died in childbirth. William makes his first ever friends in the country, and forms a very strong relationship with a Jewish boy of the same age called Zach. William, with the help of everyone in the village, especially Tom and Zach, blossoms and discovers a talent for art, quickly catching up educationally ... Read review

Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: None.

Chinese Cinderella is about one of the most neglected and mentaly abused girls in China. Adline Yan Mah tells the reader what it was like being unwanted, neglected, and considered a bad luck charm, through your own eyes. This book is pure beauty and joy. Any unwanted little girl will really love and connect to this book. Adeline's Dad and Niang (stepmother) sent her off to boarding school and forgot about her. Then when her Niang's sister comes and ... Read review

Not MI5 Cherub
Review of Cherub The Recruit - Robert Muchamore by njack

Advantages: Great book . Very realistic. more realistic than Alex Rider
Disadvantages: NONE

...broken legs. That is until CHERUB comes into the picture. What's the storyline? The story line follows the adventures of a young teenager called James Choke and his connections with a government agency called CHERUB who recruit teenagers from ages 12 to 17 to act as spies. We hear about James's feelings, strains and pains though CHERUB'S grueling 100 day training course and eventually his first mission. But this book isn't solely crammed with line ...
...to stray into the usually unchartered awkwardness of a teenager's love life and the complex system of friendship. An overall fantastic read How's it written? The book was written with the energy of an excitable young child at a party fueled by too much ice cream and coca cola inside it, it's fast, witty, laugh out loud funny, intelligent (this may not apply to the child) , sometimes in your face but overall a non stop rollercoaster of peaks and ...
