Noughts and Crosses - the first in a gripping series Advantages: Tragedy, Romance, Hope, Politics and Action all rolled into one something for everyone Disadvantages: short, points brought across a little too soon Noughts and Crosses is a must read book for people of all ages (i recommend 12+). through out this book i was oohing and aahing not willing to put the book down. When it came to finishing the first i had to move onto the second book (An Eye For An Eye), going out the next day to buy the rest of the series. But focusing on this book. Its a tragic tale (and dare i say it) "of two star-crossed lovers" but with twists and turns around every corner, when ... ...next. We start the novel following young Callum McGregor and young Sephy Hadley across the field playing as if their was no problems in the world and at that age why should their be they didn't have a care in the world he was a boy and she was a girls to them there was no other differences. Little do they know in the not so distant future they begin to learn What their differences are. How do you save people when you know when they die? Advantages: inspirational, really good! Disadvantages: boring occasionally! ...been born she has seen numbers in people’s eyes, but has never quite understood them. She used to think that everyone could see them but when her mom told her she was talking nonsense she soon discovered she was the only one! When her mother dies she quickly caught onto the fact that the numbers told Jem when that person is supposed to die. She tries to keep it covered and no one knows about this big secret of hers, but when she befriends Spider ... ...Grandma knows that Jem has this good technique, and knows that she has this secret. Northern Lights AKA the Golden Compass Book - His Dark Materials Advantages: A great way to escape from reality ! Disadvantages: None for me ...only then on hearing that Northern Lights was being released as Movie The Golden Compass that I was reminded just how much I liked the sound of these books the first time around that i'd heard about them. Luckily the hinting paid off as mentioned , and by early 2008 I had read the first book in the trilogy. Lyra Central Character to this story is a young girl named Lyra . Lyra is a spirited tomboyish type child who has lived most of her ... ...the North with him. Northern Lights is not set in the world as we know it. It is set in a parallel world . While both our World(the reader -yours or my) and Lyras Worlds may be similar in some of the names of places situated within and also lay out of locations etc the two worlds are very different from one another in a lot of ways. A terrific work by Anthony Horowitz Advantages: You meet all different worlds with a great plot ` Disadvantages: Not as scary as you thought Nightrise is a novel by Anthony Horowitz, and is the third book in "The power of five" series, after "Evil Star" and "Raven's Gate". Unlike the two books preceding it, this book follows Scott and Jamie Tyler, telepathic twins. I find this strange to have two of the five in one book, because it was one per book in the other two. Although the book is about both Jamie and Scott, Scott plays only a very small role, and speaks even less (15 lines at ... ...he was kidnapped (always helps people say less). I find this book to be less scary and supernatural than the other two, which is strange, because the front cover looks very evil (but don't judge a book by it's cover).
