Advantages: Fun and funny read for parent and child! Excellent Pictures! Disadvantages: Have to keep reading it over and over!
...other Dahl stories (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, James and the Giant Peach etc) and knew that it would be entertaining.
I loved this story and so did my children This is all about this nasty , wicked African Crocodile. He lurks in the river and decides that he wants to eat a child for his lunch! The Enormous Crocodile pretends to be a Coconut tree but just as he is to pounce on some children the Hippo warns them and bashes the Croc.
Next he goes to the childrens playgound and pretends to be a see saw and children run to see the new toy but the Monkey warns them!

...sweet shop. We never learn the name of the main character, who also acts as a narrator, which lends the book a magical air - any child reading it can imagin themselves in the position of 'me' and make the story their own.
We meet the Giraffe and the Pelly, and the monkey who is also in the story as they offer a window cleaning service. the giraffe is the ladder, the pelican's beak the bucket, and the monkey does the cleaning. But they are magic. ... ...and the pelican can retract the top section of his beak, so he doesn't have to fly with it open. and the monkey is a great cleaner. they are a winning team. and they are employed at a big house to clean the windows, but they also end up helping out when the house is burgled... I won't spoil the details of that though!
This is a great book. Easy to read for children learning to read, and enjoyable for all the family. The story is enchanting, and ...
