FOX IN SOCKS
DR SEUS
Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American writer and cartoonist best known for his children's books written under the pen name Dr. Seuss. He published over 60 children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters and rhymes. These were mainly known in America, but they do seem to have gained popularity in the UK. I can remember when reading books to my son when he was little, I was always pleased ... ...four year old picked up Fox in Socks. Macho Mum here thought 'NO problem' - if a cat in a hat didn't faze me a fox in socks would be easy meat!! But what I found was that Fox in Socks is essentially Sam-I-Am with a taste for tongue twisters!! Dr. Seuss had a devilish streak in him, part of what makes everyone love him so much - in the same way Roald Dahl's wickedness woos children everywhere. Fox in Socks actually comes with a warning label on the ...

Noughts and Crosses - the first in a gripping series
Advantages: Tragedy, Romance, Hope, Politics and Action all rolled into one something for everyone Disadvantages: short, points brought across a little too soon
Noughts and Crosses is a must read book for people of all ages (i recommend 12+). through out this book i was oohing and aahing not willing to put the book down. When it came to finishing the first i had to move onto the second book (An Eye For An Eye), going out the next day to buy the rest of the series. But focusing on this book. Its a tragic tale (and dare i say it) "of two star-crossed lovers" but with twists and turns around every corner, when ... ...next. Beautifully illustrated story that makes you think and learn
Advantages: Teaches so many things about life, growing up, being responsible for one's choices and mindful abo Disadvantages: none
...advice is ( understandbably) that Leah confess the truth in its entirety to her mom.
Leah decided not to follow this advice and instead told a couple more lies to cover for the first one.
The problem was that as a fairy, telling a lie weakened her wings ( symbolising the fragility of anyone's credibility and the weakening effect of lying ) until eventually, she lost her wings (credibility) altogether.
When her mother discovers what transpired, ... ...need reminding about.)
When Leah decides to take full responsibility for the consequences of her actions, it meant moving away from her home (the Lime Tree) and living with another fairy family who were born without wings, but who instead had amazingly powerful voices, as they would sing in order to accomplish their work. - since they couldn't fly around to do so.
(This part of the story teaches about the transformative capacity of energy: sound ...

Not going to Flunk this one!
Advantages: exciting, plot, characters, price Disadvantages: /
For as long as I remember, I have always loved Mary Kate and Ashley. The Olsens were at the heart of my universe when I was a child - I adored their films, and went insane with merchandise. When I discovered their book range after a rake in a charity shop with my Grandma, I got stuck in straight away. I have always been a bit of a book worm and loved reading, so finding a whole new collection of books to plough through was incredibly exciting. Luckily ... ...of the books, so I got started straight away. Book number #2 in the Two of a Kind collection is 'How To Flunk Your First Date'. With the title as a bit of a giveaway, the books in this collection are based on the television series 'Two of a Kind', which is about Kevin Burke's two teenage daughters Mary Kate and Ashley. They live with their Dad but spend a lot of time with their super hip and cool babysitter Carrie. The Two of a Kind logo is at the ...
