What Does a Duck Pull At Xmas - Quackers!!!
Advantages: Flaps and fun Disadvantages: Duck isn't on every page
***Background***
This book has text by Richard Powell and the illustrations are from Steve Cox. Richard Powell has provided the writing for lots of other board books especially for toddlers. Steve Cox has also illustrated and designed many lift the flap books but has also worked with well-known authors such as Anne Fine.
This series was made especially for WH Smith.
***The Content***
The book starts off with a noise and a question.
"Twit! Twooo! ... ...is a pair of owls hiding in a tree.
This board book then keeps this format to look all over the countryside to find different animals and ends with the woodpecker asking, "Who's that?"
When we lift the final flap we see a man with binoculars sitting in a special shed watching the wildlife.
"Shhhhhhhh! Do you think they have seen me?" he asks.
***My Thoughts***
I was a bit confused at the title of this book as I thought we would see the duck ...

Who's That Snoring?
Advantages: Explores animal sounds Disadvantages: none
***Background***
This is the second book in the series that we have had from the local library. It has text by Richard Powell and the illustrations are from Steve Cox. Richard Powell has provided the writing for lots of other board books especially for toddlers. Steve Cox has also illustrated and designed many lift the flap books but has also worked with well-known authors such as Anne Fine.
***The Content***
It is a noise and a question that ... ...Who's on the farm?"
Look inside and we find another sound and question.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo! Who's that?"
On the adjoining page is the picture of a clock up on a roof and when this clock flap is pulled down, we can see a cockerel sitting crowing away.
Following on we can find a pig, a cow and a sheepdog, all hiding behind big flaps.
The books end with all the animals looking on in wonderment as they hear a snoring noise coming from behind a haystack. ...

Copy Cats
Advantages: Novel way of getting your kids moving whilst reading Disadvantages: none
...this series, the other being Animal Noises. As well as these books he has also written a large number of others for the under 5's, many of them board books for easy turning of pages for little fingers. His partner for these is Ana Martin-Larranaga who draws the pictures. She was born in Spain but moved to Scotland to work, where she lived for seven years before moving over to Germany a couple of years ago.
***The Book***
This book is very different ... ...spinner are 3 or 4 animal pictures with instructions next to them. It's up to your child to spin it and see where it lands, and then to do the actions as in the picture. Each page has a hole in the centre so that even when you turn the pages you can still get access to either of the spinners.
Throughout the book we are asked to pounce like a cat, wriggle like a worm or to stand on one leg like a flamingo. Some of the animals featured are a mole, ...

A love story for babies!
Advantages: positive, nice illustrations Disadvantages: none!
I was bought this book as a christening present for my daughter. I doubt I would have ordinarily picked it up or even looked at it as I'd probably look at the title and think it wasn't exactly an action-packed book but about emotions instead which my daughter can't u nderstand at her young age. However, I have read this to her several times and althuogh at first I thought it was quite cringeworthy and strange reading to her about love when was only ... ...The book isn't 'baby proof' as the pages are paper as appose to the board books which babies should really have to cut down on paper cuts, ripping of paper and general chewing of it! So I don't leave this with my baby to play with but use it more of a bed time story. The cover itself is hardboard though so if she feels a need for a gnaw on it then she can at least chew the cover! The 'story' is about love and how love is in lots of different places- ...

Its Just Like My Bed, Mummy
Advantages: Teaches children numbers and counting whilst reading Disadvantages: None really
In My Little Pink Bed Its Just Like My Bed, Mummy In my opinion, you cant have enough books as they are not only fun for children to read, but also a great learning tool, and my daughters bookshelves are certainly getting more full as I keep finding great little books to add to her collection which she loves reading with mummy or looking through them on her own. The most recent book I found was ‘In My Little Pink Bed’ by Claire Henley. ***************** ... ...usual cover to cover book in the way that the back cover is larger than the front and hosts a soft dolls head which comes away from the page, laying on a pillow. On the back cover, this is ‘attached’ to a soft feel body laying in a bed and gives the effect throughout the whole book that the girl is laying in her bed, the pages acting as the covers of her bed. The front cover is as you would expect with the name of this book, in two shades of lovely ...
