Sophie and her mum were having tea one evening when there was a knock at the door. After failing to guess who it may be, Sophie opens the door and there is a "big, furry, stripy tiger". ...find including "all the water in the tap". When Daddy gets home, they tell him what has happened and he decides they must go out for tea instead. The following day, Sophie and her mum go shopping and they buy lots of food, including, a "very big tin of tiger food." The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a classic tale for children that has been around for years. Though it was one of my books as a child, it was not my favourite story as I was a little bit scared. My son loves the story though and it certainly seems popular with children. ...as a story book for the parents to read to the child as there is a good storyline. It can also be used for the child to read as the writing is clear and easy to understand. I would not recommend it for learning to read though as there are a few difficult words in for someone just starting. Words like frightened, gobble, troll, skipped, thundered etc. would not be in the reading vocabulary of young children just starting to read, their reading would ... Read review

The book is told from the point of view of Bruno, so it is easy for adults to see past his naive views of the world, and sense impending doom, where Bruno is unable to see it.
