Zagazoo - a brilliant book, especially for boys/parents of boys

Advantages: Quirky, warm, funny and surprisingly deep!
Disadvantages: A big (albeit light) book, so little babies will need you to hold it for them

The image that Ciao is choosing to illustrate this book is completely wrong - it's actually an A4-sized book with a white background and a typical wild Quentin Blake illustration on the front of a couple opening a brightly-coloured parcel to find a baby i ...

24 hours to save the world...And walk the dog.

Advantages: Children MAY like it
Disadvantages: Children MAY hate it

What to say about this book? Well I'll start off with the fact that this is the first book in a series called "Zac Power" by H.I. Larry. This first book is titled "Poison Island". Now personally it did not draw me into the book and I would NEVER EVER read ...

A Child's Experience of War

Advantages: Compelling reading, an alternative perspective of war
Disadvantages: Doesn't give us much in the way of facts

Disadvantages: hard to relate to characters, saw the twist a mile off

When the Zombies attack Ireland, the UK is on high alert. B and her family don’t know how to take it, but Ireland is miles away from London, they should be safe right? B’s father is a handful, a drunken, racist bully and he is getting worse, often taking ...

A book that reads like a video game

Advantages: Perfect book for action loving boys
Disadvantages: Not a great story from an adult perspective, high levels of gore and violence.

Does anyone remember the Old 'Give Yourself Goosebumps' books where you chose the ending? The new I horror series is something like those books, but quite a bit more violent. Every few pages you will be given a set of tow or three choices - each of which ...
