Give Me A Sign-My First Signs
Review of My First Signs (Baby Signing) (BSL) (Sign & Sing-along) - Annie Kubler by
debmercury
Advantages: Very Easy To Learn
Disadvantages: None
...very useful to me because my group ( who are 12 months to six years old) regularly meet a little boy James( James is eighteen months old) who has a hearing impairment and it has been great to read the book together as a group and be able to sign a few simple words with him. James and the children (including me) have been really proud and pleased with ourselves that we could communicate in this way.
By using these signs it has helped the children/babies ... ...skills and I have found the more children learn about different disabilities the more easily they accept them. I would recommend it to parents and carers of young babies/children and it is ideal for hearing and deaf babies/children.
This book helps children understand signing can be a form of communication and also learns them to understand and accept disability.
This book is a great introduction to sign language but please note some of the signs ...

Review of The Snack Thief - Andrea Camilleri by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Probably my favourite in the series so far
Disadvantages: Still the annoying translation
...found stabbed to death in the lift of his apartment block. Investigation into his private life reveals that he may not have been quite so respectable after all...his wife certainly suspects that he was having an affair with a Tunisian cleaner called Karima. But Karima has disappeared, apparently having fleed for her life, leaving behind her small son, Francois, who is forced to steal schoolchildren's snacks for food. Montalbano takes the child into ... ...smuggling and government corruption into the pot. Can Montalbano prove who is behind the smuggling, find Karima, keep Francois safe and stop his girlfriend from leaving him all at the same time? I have now read a number of books in the Inspector Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri, and I have to say that they are growing on me. It is rare these days that I find a new fictional detective anything other than okay. They tend to fall into categories ...

Review of 100 Best Loved Nursery Rhymes by
BecksterMas
Advantages: Beautiful collection
Disadvantages: None
...an attractive book filled with 100 of the best loved nursery rhyme. It is a lovely book to share with your child or would make a lovely birthday or christening present for someone else.
For rhymes that can be moved to, there is a description at the bottom of the page explaining how to do the movements-very helpful, especially if its a rhyme you've not heard before.
The illustrations are beautiful and make this book a pleasure to read.

... ...Play Together Rhymes
This section includes favourites such as 'Incy Wincy Spider', 'The Mulberry Bush', 'Pat-a-Cake' and 'Oranges and Lemons'. My son loves 'I'm a little teapot' as he knows the movements and loves perfoming them- as you will see in the picture below, my daughter loves pretending to be a teapot too! My son and daughter also love holding hands and dancing round and round to 'The Mulberry Bush'.

Potty for Potter!
Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) - J. K. Rowling by
anakha6
Advantages: Brilliant and gripping story, excellent characters.
Disadvantages: Originally a bit pricy on release but has come down now.
As with all the Harry Potter books, I was impressed that a children's book can pull off such a moving story line and be readable by both adults and children alike.
One cannot help but love Harry Potter's characters, and it is always nice to read about the 'ordinary boy' who becomes something extraordinary and JK Rowling has taken this classic plot device and made it into something unique and special.
The book rounded the series off nicely, bringing ... ...book.
I know that many Harry Potter fans, me included, were saddened by the death of dumbledore in the last book and it was nice to see a man who was willing to forget and forgive beyond reasonable doubt and trust those who didn't deserve it have his faith rewarded and a villain become a hero.
A must read, JK Rowling's work so far has been touched by genius and I look forward to more books from this author. ...
