All About Your Munchkin!
Review of DK Lift the Flap: All About me by
BecksterMas
Advantages: Flaps to lift
Disadvantages: None
OVERVIEW
This is a super book for babies and toddlers from Dorling Kindersley. Children will love the brightly coloured pictures and lift up flaps. They will associate with the pictures of young children and their day to day activities. It is a hard board book- this makes it easy for little hands to turn the pages and also makes it more durable. It is one of a few lift the flaps books ive had where the flaps havent been damaged- there are nice finger ... ...very useful.
The language is very basic, with most pages just having keywords on.
DETAILS
The first two pages are about 'My Body'. There are pictures of three children with their body parts clearly labelled, great for older children who are starting to read. There is a part all about movement, with flaps that lift up to change the movement, for example from running to stretching. Children reading the book can try copying the movements themselves.

Give Me A Sign-My First Signs
Review of My First Signs (Baby Signing) (BSL) (Sign & Sing-along) - Annie Kubler by
debmercury
Advantages: Very Easy To Learn
Disadvantages: None
...very useful to me because my group ( who are 12 months to six years old) regularly meet a little boy James( James is eighteen months old) who has a hearing impairment and it has been great to read the book together as a group and be able to sign a few simple words with him. James and the children (including me) have been really proud and pleased with ourselves that we could communicate in this way.
By using these signs it has helped the children/babies ... ...skills and I have found the more children learn about different disabilities the more easily they accept them. I would recommend it to parents and carers of young babies/children and it is ideal for hearing and deaf babies/children.
This book helps children understand signing can be a form of communication and also learns them to understand and accept disability.
This book is a great introduction to sign language but please note some of the signs ...

Take a Trip Round the World
Review of Children Just Like Me - Anabel Kindersley by
BecksterMas
Advantages: Great pictures
Disadvantages: None
...is a delightful look at children from around the world. The writers of this book spent two years meeting and photographing youngsters from more than 140 countries, covering every continent. The book is split into continents, enabling us to meet the children, learn their names, and nationalities. Then each section has a two page part including pictures of each child's food, housing, school, family and friends. The children talk about their favourite ... ...just as useful at home. Children often live in their own little world, so it is great to introduce them to the world's of other children.
The pictures are really eye catching and varied- greta for children of all ages, especially primary school age.
I particularly enjoyed the travel diary section- it was really interesting to read and gave a great insight behind the book.
CONTENTS
There are several different sections to this book:

That IS MY Book!
Review of That's Not My Bear - Fiona Watt by
BecksterMas
Advantages: Textures to feel
Disadvantages: None
OVERVIEW
'That's Not My Bear' is a gorgeous book, perfect for babies and toddlers. We have got a lot of books from the 'That's Not My...' range and theyre all fantastic. On each page, there is the repeated phrase 'That's not my bear...' followed by a reason why it's not the right bear. On the last page it finishes with 'That's my bear, his...' ( I wont ruin the surprise!).
Each page has also got a great touchy feely bit in the picture- young children ... ...and makes me feel it. It is a lovely book to ignite your child's interest in reading.
Also on each page there is a little white mouse to spot- there is no mention of the little white mouse in the actual story, but he appears on every page of every 'That's Not My..' book. My son loves spotting him and when he was a baby, he used to pint at the mouse and squeak.
The book his a board book, which makes it very tough. My two children have both read ...
