Let's speak Italian
Review of Usborne First Thousand Words in Italian - Usborne Activities by danielalong

Advantages: Good overview of the language
Disadvantages: Don't bother with the quicklink

...~~The Book~~ In typical usborne style, this is a nice big, brightly coloured book, so nothing threatening for young children. On the front is a picture of a busy farmyard scene, with words and pictures dotted around the edge of the book. Inside the book, we start with the information pages; two pages with information for parents. This will help you get the most out of the book. There is useful information about the quicklinks, wwww.usborne-quicklinks.com. ...
...you can hear the words spoken in Italian, print out puzzles, and find other information on Italy. However, as sites go, I find it quite confusing. There is a lot of toing and froing to get the words spoken, and after each word, you have to go to the start and then select another one. Not quick enough for little people who want it and want it now. I also thought they should have said the word in English and then in Italian rather than relying on you ... Read review

To bed with a centipede
Review of Harry the Poisonous Centipede - Lynne Reid Banks by anwar

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...Lynne Reid Banks. Harry the poisonous centipede is the story of Harry, a young centipede who lives with his siblings and mother. To quote from the opening page- you may think that a centipede is not a very nice thing to be, but Harry thought it was fine. He'd never been anything else. Harry and his family communicate in centipedish . As there are no vowels in centipedish words sound very odd! In fact Harry is really called Hxzltl. Harry is not a ...
...that are juicy and munchy! Harry learns that some creatures are too dangerous to try and eat like flying swoopers and furry biters. The most dangerous creature of all however are hoo-mins. One day the centipedes tunnel fills with smoke and they are forced above ground to escape. The centipedes find themselves in a hoo-min house and are in great danger. As you may want to read this to your child I'm not going to tell you how it all ends! You will ... Read review

Advantages: will keep all learners engaged
Disadvantages: none

DK do it again! This book is an exciting and informative resource to help support a science unit that many children (and some teachers) can often find hard work. Its colourful presentation and historical links create a powerful and eye-catching teaching guide. The publishers Dorling Kindersley (DK) Ltd of London are well-known producers of high standard learning resources. This book was first published in hard back in 1988. However, this A4 paper ...

In this case Dr. R.F.Symes and the staff of the Natural History Museum in London have written and helped produce this excellent book. Stretching the imagination of children
Review of I Absolutely Must Do Colouring-in Now (Charlie & Lola) - Lauren Child by busycat444

Advantages: Colouring and story making with a difference
Disadvantages: It would be better with wipe claen pages. When it's done it's done.

...or faces. Each page aims to get children involved with the story by writing or drawing and of course, thinking. This is a great book for the approaching summer holidays. If you have some "busy" little ones to look after over the summer I highly recommend this book. ... Read review
