Is your child starting school?
Review of Jolly Phonics Letter Sound Poster (Jolly Phonics) - Sue Lloyd by
BecksterMas
Advantages: Helps teach letter sounds
Disadvantages: Best used with Jolly Phonics scheme
...used in conjunction with the Jolly Phonics scheme. The great thing about Jolly Phonics is that it doesn't just teach the letters of the alphabet, but it teaches the 42 letter sounds. This is crucial when your child is learning to read and write.
The bright colours and pictures will attract your child's eyes to the poster- it looks lovely on a bedroom wall.

IS YOUR CHILD STARTING SCHOOL?
If your child is starting ... ...poster. In fact the whole Jolly Phonics scheme is fantastic- if your child is using Jolly Phonics in school, it makes sense to buy a few of the work books to practise at home. They are available at a good price on Amazon. It is also worth visiting the Jolly Phonics site at www.jollylearning.co.uk The site gives a lot of information about how to use the workbooks, as well as details about resources, training dates and a message board.

Review of Big Book Of Knowledge by

Advantages: beautiful, colorful illustrations and informative, interesting and well presented.
Disadvantages: none i can think of
As the name suggests, 'The Big Book of Knowledge, is an encyclopedia for children. This four hundred pages' book has beautiful, colorful illustrations to not only catch your attention but to also help you and your children to understand the hundreds of facts better. An interesting feature of this book is the short quizzes which help you to test how much of the information you have retained. In particular, I found the 'People's Section' very interesting ... ...detailed and accurate diagrams. It told me that the human lungs, if opened out and laid flat, would cover an area, the size of a tennis court! The book ends with more key facts and an index with key words arranged alphabetically so as to make it easier for the reader to find what he is looking for. Overall the book is informative, interesting and well presented. ...
